My sister was stunningly beautiful BUT it was a curse to her. Men just wanted to be seen with her on their arm. I could write a horror story about all the bad relationships. She passed away in her early 50's and it was so sad. I understand 100% how these beautiful actresses were treated and how they felt
@taranjene445318 күн бұрын
Thank you for empathizing with the downside of beauty. You're rarely taken seriously. People assume you're promiscuous if you're voluptuous. Jealousy is a way of life from other women. It can be very difficult

Anne Sheridan was a huge star in the 40s but most young people today have no idea who she was. They know Betty Davis, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Ingrid Bergman, Vivien Leigh and Katherine Hepburn. Unlike those other stars, Ann Sheridan's movies did not stand the test of time. She made a few memorable movies but the only one I have heard of us Kings Row. Thank you for showcasing Anne Sheridan.

Beauty stirs up lots of negative emotions from others, whether male or female. Its seems that love is never 'true' love bc if beauty even fades a little bit, so does the 'love'. The bar, even your own beauty sets, is just too high. It cannot be maintained . So the eyes of your 'true love' will start to wander. You look around and see 'ordinary' ppl that you kno have been together forever. So who really has the privilege? Beauty does not have many friends. Many tears are cried at nite. But Ann Sheridan RIP you beautiful woman!! I remember you from a time (in the 1960s) when my Mom & I wud watch old movies while she was cooking dinner & I was doing homework 💐💐💐

Those are some very wise words.👏👏 I do wonder, then, if women like and try to take care of themselves to blosom and to be the best version of themselves, how are we going to actually know if a man truly loves us??? I will be at peace with living a blessed life by myself, cause I don't want more heartake or backstabbing by the ones who actually should be for me not against me 🙌 I wish you so much happiness, blessings and health in your live🌹

As a counselor of battered women, we might as well stop trying to spin that narrative that beautiful women have a hard time finding love because they are arm candy to make us feel better. While it may appear that women who are NOT beautiful have mates, they often put up with a lot more because of lowered self esteem. ALL WOMEN FACE LOVE CHALLENGES ESPECIALLY IN THIS DAY AND AGE.

This woman was one of my favorites. She had the looks and the talent. I truly enjoyed her in the movie: The man who came to dinner. I remember reading she said Bette Davis helped her with that part, and she was outstanding. So sad how Hollywood back then, treated the most beautiful women that brought them millions (Marilyn Monroe). Not much has changed. Hope to see this great lady on the other side.🖤🖤🖤

Beauty can definitely be a double edged sword, men fall in lust not love quite often with a beautiful woman and see them as a trophy and a symbol of their male prowess. They don't scratch the surface and take time to see the person underneath. Hollyweird was and still is a very unforgiving and cruelly shallow place, spitting women out as soon as their looks even slightly fade. Must wreak havok with people's mental health and their self worth.

Glad you mention how tough those women had it. Anyone ever wonder why almost all of the golden age gals were almost unable to bear children (multiple abortions), often ended tragically or extremely religious later? On the way up they were forced to ''service'' not just the producers but also distributors etc. Like Monroe said ''a crowded bordello.'' Only a few exceptions to this (possibly Bette Davis).

Nora Prentiss!! 🖤 I am a fan of classic films, and Ann Sheridan stands out for me in her portrayals of women measured by their strong will and grit, and not by beauty standards. I mean, her character in King's Row was from the "wrong side of the tracks" who had to uplift RR after a sadistic doctor amputated his legs. Her character in Nora Prentiss was the sidechick experience! 😅

You do so many videos on old Hollywood , well the accent mostly used was “Mid-Atlantic accent, also known as the Transatlantic accent”, if Ann or anyone else had a southern, or Texan dialect , and the role didn’t call for southern the actor had to prefect the mid-Atlantic.. You should know that instead of labeling it something else . As a matter of fact the accent thing hasn’t changed in Hollywood, if the role calls for a Brooklyn accent , their not going to put someone in the role if their unable to speak with one, same with any other American accent European, Latin etc, etc .. . My comment wasn’t to minimize Ann’s treatment on the set, it was shine light on something left out of the video.
