Somehow, this doesn't sound overbearing and messy like some direct mashups come out to be I think that's due to the fact that at several points in the remix, for example in the chorus, the melody doesn't play at points that it does in the original, allowing for the original to shine through here and there. This works so well, the two versions fit together like a puzzle.
