Amazing piece. I saw this live and loved it so much that I went to the same choir's second performance a day later. So many goosebumps moments! Especially how the opening, with the marching of the feet and the swelling of the music (here at 3:50). The beautiful and strangely modern "Sanctus". Also the call to prayer - unexpected when I first heard it. The musical versions of the poems describing the horrors of war. The hellish scream at 34:30 (much more impactful to hear in person)! Just a beautiful piece of art. Thanks for uploading this version.

Seems Karl Jenkins had this in mind, when composing it: "So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." Now, he succeeded with his object, but if I would be a bishop, I wouldn't allow it in my church.

I wonder if the questioner might actually be wondering why the adhaan is included at all. The work is a mass of hope for universal peace. Universal includes everybody. Notice that the adhaan is a call to prayer and not a call to war.

I disagree with Jim Baw. It is a small extremist minority of the Muslim community that is causing so much trouble. The senior Imam in Sydney came to a concert of this work in Nowra earlier this year (my partner was in the choir). His speech was given an ovation by the audience who had enjoyed Karl Jenkins's work.
@johnny23037 жыл бұрын
Is that why entire countries subscribe to the atrocities? It is Islam and its prophet that one must study. Peace will never be achieved by humanity.The Gospel did not come to change the world but prepare us for the next. Ironically "if" everyone believed and followed Christ, none of this would be. Compare the life of Mohamed with Christ. Show me justification in the New Testament for violence. May I point out that the old testament descriptions of violence are "narrative" describing God's command against the enemies of his people. They did not become Doctrine.. The Bible is several books written over 1500 years culminating on the Cross. The Quran was written by one man. Who is he? Who is Jesus Christ?

@@johnny2303 Have you not noticed that even devout and sincere believers are far from perfect and often fail to strive for peace? Any attempt to draw attention to the solidarity of humans is praiseworthy. As an agnostic and former Protestant with strong links in my forebears , and having departed from secularism and reliance on ritualism I find that the lyrics and total presentation is geared for believers which unfortunately is a shrinking entity. The appeal to music afficianados is obvious; I can not see its appeal to the general public

Sorry, but so many things are wrong with this. The choir is not balanced and there does not appear to be 'quality' in the separate parts. If you are after a sound straight off a battle field, I guess this is what you would get . Perhaps it is the placing of the mikes that is to blame, but you can't attribute every increasingly flat descending scale to that ….

At the time of Kosovo there was some understandable sympathy for the Muslims. Since then we have been given a lesson in why that sympathy is now misplaced. To utter the words Allahu Akbar in a British environment is treason. My choir is performing a piece of this without the Allahu Akbar. I have told the conductor I shall make a scene if she allowes it to be said.

The call of Antichrist in a church and in a mass! Allah is greater, is the call! Greater than Jesus? Jesus is God, the Islam denies this. And the Koran says, every person, which beleive, Jesus is God, comes to hell, this believe is the sin, Allah never forgive! And than this call against Jesus is made in so many churches through this mass.
