KARL SANDERS says about "The Evil Inherent in us All":
“I am really happy with how this song turned out. 'The Evil Inherent in us All' was a lot of fun to write and record. The song was inspired by an infamous night in Cairo when Egyptian Metal Artist, Impresario, and underground legend Nader Sadek took Derek Roddy, Mahmud Gecekesu and me to a performance of authentic North African Exorcism Music. The unbelievable, highly advanced and intuitive ensemble musicianship we witnessed that night was unforgettable and really opened my eyes and ears to an entire wealth of new music. In keeping with that profoundly moving communal spirit of subtle yet intense shared musical frenzy among the performers, The Evil Inherent has two close friends of mine contributing some serious musical voodoo to the track. Original Nile drummer and lifelong friend Pete Hammoura conjures all manner of wickedly grooving percussion, and our metal brother Rusty Cooley lays down some truly unique acoustic guitar exorcisms.”

I see some comments about how some of his songs aren’t Egyptian in sound or references to that area, and I get that. What I don’t get is that he employs different regions of Africa in his sounds as well as near East and has even done at least one song involving Tibetan tradition as has got some flak for it. As far as I can tell he enjoys a lot of traditional as well as mythological inspirations and employs them in his music. He takes inspiration from what he truly loves and is interested in and shares it unabashedly. If you don’t like it or want to down talk it then don’t comment. Like your mom told you “if you can’t say something nice, shut the hell up” or something like that. Karl you rule🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 looking forward to more in this vein as well as the usual fare

Tibetan Monks were featured on the Black Seeds of Vengeance album, going way back. Just as many Nile songs revolve around H.P Lovecraft topics as they do ancient Egypt, as well as Mesopotamia (such as Defiling the Gates of Ishtar). Those criticisms don't make sense at all, and most likely come from people who aren't even that knowledgeable about the band and its history.

Most people have a problem with it because of the African influence, it's supposed to be Suarian so he's exploring with many different culture and sounds from those ancient times. It's not supposed to be strictly Upper Egyptian or middle eastern

Great.. btw this song contains some lyrics and melodies from Khaled's song "Wahran" which is not mentioned.. and the vocal melodies or ornaments is from the great Maghreb (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco ) not Egypt just to be clear

Are you inferring that it was some type of african "voodoo" by the video/music?
@ALAMRICY
@ALAMRICY Жыл бұрын
Yes... it's more like voodoo "the intro, the masks, the fire, some music elements" it's all related to voodoo not zar...even the Arabic in the track it's not Egyptian Arabic because zar is mainly in Egypt. maybe just some drums a little bit related to zar. Beside he also mention he has 2 friends contributing in voodoo music.
