I've been telling my husband for several years I want to move to Australia, this is just one more reason. Aussies tell it like it is, no airs and graces or trying to fit a role, they just speak their mind. Probably the best thing we Brits ever did was shifting a ragtag bunch of misfits to the arse-end of the planet and saying "Right, look after yourselves, here's a few months supply of water and we've seen some giant mice that bounce around on their back legs, you can probably eat those!" :D The guy who said Karl was a proper bloke said it best as I have an aunt down under in Brisbane/Brizzy and she has said that calling an Australian fella a 'top bloke' is about the best compliment you can give an Aussie guy, she says it means they are proper salt-of-the-Earth stuff who would have your back when you need it, and we saw a lot of that in WW2 when we needed it :)
