This entire EP is absolutely gorgeous and haunting. I adore it so much. I've actually gotten quite strong Hades and Persephone vibes from all of these songs. The Gloom is talking about how Persephone was lost to the Underworld and Hades because her lover at the time failed his promise. Dark Ones is kind of like the Underworld talking to her, trying to claim her and keep her. Disappear is like Hades trying to convince her to stay. Saying she is the light of the Underworld and he doesn't want her to leave. And the Dawn makes me think that it talks of Persephone's visits to Earth with Demeter. But it never lasts, as she must always return to the Gloom, or in this case; the Underworld.

I am a bit late but that doesn't really make sense if you're going from a purely mythological perspective. Persephone was forced to return to Earth after Demeter's deal with Zues over the half eaten apple. She was very fond of and loved Hades.

Love this. Adding it to my dnd character’s playlist. I have been having them always up at dawn to watch the sunrise each morning they can. This ritual is on purpose as their late fiancé always loved watching it rise too. My character made a promise to themselves to see as many sunrises as they can with their fiancé sword by their side as they can. They want to continue to convey their lover’s legacy to the world, which was a very optimistic and idealist view, and the positive influence this had on them. This song feels like those moments I put together for this character. It’s a small thing but it’s something I felt my character would do as a form of their grief. Which is the entire point of this character, their story is supposed to be one about learning to live with the grief and still going on with you life. Not forgetting or neglecting, remembering, but also not letting the past weigh you down. And that’s why the sunrise symbolism is so important for me in doing this. Anyway! Thanks for the song!

There are three main themes for me in this one. Someone winning a battle with depression and realising it for the first time/imagining what that day will be like, then two less meaningful ones, haha. It makes me think of Narnia and Lotr. The woman is walking in a lonely wood, a little cold, watching the horizon where the morning sun should be coming up. But there is nothing there, besides the usual flat brown sky. She imagines the warmth of the sun, its light and comfort washing over the world and bringing all those lost souls back. But in her heart, the woman knows it is wishful thinking. The world will not be saved for some time yet. However, she would like to be there when it is, even if that is her last day. She wants to know what it's like to have the sun on her skin after years in darkness. _______________________________ You know, these songs have done wonders for my motivation to write. And the world they conjure up in my minds-eye is a very interesting one! The art also helps, it's beautiful :) I will definitely be making an up to date writing playlist now :3

Hello Karliene! I know I am late, but I wanted to thank you for this song! I always sang this song for my heart horse Kami. He died today (5.3.2024) and I am heartbroken. He was my reason to keep living. This song brought me peace and reminded me of him. All I have of him now is a bridle and saddle and lots of memories. Thank you for writing this song! It means so much to me!❤🧡💜

You know I can't help thinking that you had these last few songs come out in almost perfect order, intentional or not. The last three tell of haunting darkness and despair and then there's this one, the dawn. For the darkness part of night comes just before dawn.

Okay, so I listened to the whole thing and came up with a story. *The Gloom* is the beginning, about a woman who lives alone in a haunted forest, cursed by dark magic and feared and forgotten. *The Dark Ones* could be a flashback, about how the dark magic and demons used to call to her, how they promised her power and love. *Disappear* is also a flashback, about her last lover before she was taken fully by the darkness, about how she longed for him and that he was her only hope. *The Dawn* is the ending, about how the darkness finallly releases it's hold on her, and sets her free, and how she tries to get used to the beautiful world again.
