If you're on holiday just for a few weeks, stick to the more famous and modern restaurants because food poisoning can wreck 5-7 days of your trip. In India, there are Haldirams or Bikanerwala, which are perfect for tourists to experience authentic street food. I don't think there's a similar place across Pakistan, but all big cities have plenty of famous and clean places to eat.

Hi Karl- when I watch these videos showing foods that are sold at such prices, I usually wonder how it can be possible to do so. After all, we all know there’s costs associated to preparing food… the costs of the ingredients & the cost of labor & maybe overhead costs like supplies & rent / electricity / etc. you’ve been there for years. How can they sell at such an unbelievable low cost without losing money?? How much do they profit from on a $1 dish??
@umersdiary2.07 сағат бұрын
well in western countries , the sellers sell things at maximum profit rates but in asia such as in pakistan , they sell at minimum profit because not everyone can afford higher prices . moreover , it might be looking cheap for you but even one dollar is a lot for many in asia . things are different in asian countries
@nishkp7 сағат бұрын

I wish we had this in the West. If you look at the sheer number of staff working to make tasty, nutritious, fresh food; you cant translate the incoming and outgoings of the same in the West - you would be out of business in a week.
@udp10242 сағат бұрын
Labour is cheap $5 per day. Businesses up-skill them with training. It’s a win-win solution. The business itself is not making a ton of money. Just a comfortable living for the owner. They have to maintain prices at a level that their customers can support while ensuring quality. A difficult but not impossible proposition. The business itself runs on volume. These Dhaba type places are typically open for half a day. More successful ones are open for even less hours. They differentiate themselves by specializing in specific items, specific meals etc. In the West, the holding costs (rents) are so high that they drive up wages. These two then become the biggest costs for the business. Higher volume, instead of translating into profits, attract the need for more labour and thus more costs.
