I can get lost in your videos for hours- but then I'd never get any painting done!! Lol! 🤣 When I saw the title of this video I immediately clicked on it, because I'm working on a long canvas but I'm not crazy about how toothy it is. I have a gallon of white acrylic gesso (I also do oils), but didn't use it on the canvas because I didn't know how it would effect the watercolor paint, but now I'm going to buy the one you use and I'm hoping it will make the canvas much smoother- THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 💗🌷😁

Absolutely stunning! I'm so glad I found this video because I have a plethora of blank canvases when I was into my acrylics. I'm having such a grand time experimenting with watercolor, and now, with this revelation, I can start canvas work! Thank you Karlyn!

I love your abstracts! So beautiful and intriguing. Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve just started trying to paint on canvas. I mixed my own ground. It’s working pretty good. I love watercolor so much more than acrylic. But it’s nice to have a canvas for hanging on the wall.

apparently, I have subscribed before today ...it may have been because I saw one of your other videos and to watch later... but I have to tell you this video is awesome I've learned so so much from you in just the 26 mins of this video ...your paintings are really beautiful. I just recently started again with watercolor and got the pens but I only have canvases around so this was the one video I really needed to see ... I wish or hope you have a video on how to draw those poppies or flowers they are wonderful to look at and I would love to learn even more from you thanks so much for the informative video and showing us the tips and tricks you have just opened new doors for me. I'm going to start getting a bunch of canvases ready for the next few days .. I really hope you can or have a video on how to draw them .either way I will watch all the other videos you got. 2 thumbs up from me!

I love all the techniques you shared Karlyn. I used to subscribe to Artist Network TV just so I could watch your videos! I just ordered many of your kits and all the products you used except for the Dorlands wax which I have experience using and on that note I would like to add that when using heat to speed up the drying of this wax, I highly recommend wearing a respirator mask as it produces very nasty fumes albeit not noticeable, but are dangerous to breathe in. Thanks for the awesome video !

You just an amazing rabbit hole of interesting and beautiful techniques and ideas and I love watching you work and you have a very soothing teaching voice! I really enjoyed this video and learned a lot! I am diving into the cold pressed ground on canvas world as I have commissions to do for people that did not realize my work was like watercolour and mixed media and not usually on canvas. But I do also sometimes do watercolour on canvas and there wasn’t a good prep to get it to take but the finishing process was, fixative, matte medium, varnish. So this and the wax sounds really exciting and I love that you told us to put it on thin and then put down a bit of a water wash! Thanks

I've been using the Schminke watercolour ground for 18months now and love painting on canvas (my biggest to date is 1.2x1metre!), but I am so excited to know you only need one coat of the QoR - no more 3 coats and 72 hours for me! I use a spray UV archival varnish matt, so I am interested in the wax too. Really interesting. Thank you so much for sharing.

this is actually my first time to watch this. techniques have blown me away. because I have been painting so long. yet it's difficult for me to draw or paint on canvass using watercolor tubes. I'm just wondering if that paint before you start painting is available in my country. for me to paint on canvass much easier... but great job, ma'am. I really love your works.

I've seen people mention your techniques to add texture to their paintings with gauze or plastic wrap, but I think this is the first time where I've seen it where the technique makes sense with the painting and doesn't stand out like a gimmick.

Thankyou so much for sharing all of your watercolor and mixed media knowledge. I learned a few new concepts today and am excited to try them out! Would you please clarify for me about the canvas used in combination with the Golden Cold Press Ground?. Did you use the Golden Watercolor Cold Press Ground on regular canvas that is typically used for acrylic and oil to make it useable for watercolor?

These are amazing!!! I saw this months ago. And then lost it😢 Found it today, because I looking up WaterColor grounds💕 Itd be great to take some classes on these!!! How/what do you use to transfer your picture to your canvas? Will I need an overhead projector? If so, a decent place to purchase? The ones I've seen are upwards of $500.00😳 Your advice would be greatly appreciated💖💕😜 Sincerely, Lisa Drozé

Hi Karlyn. Love your artwork and love that you share your knowledge! Question: I have just mounted one of my watercolour painting on cradled board, and have 3 coats of golden archival varnish on it. After applying the Dorland Wax, can I then also heat it with a hair dryer to get that sheen, instead of buffing? Because its 180 paper, not canvas? Also do you put on more than one coat of Dorland Wax? Lastly, why do you use hair dryer instead of buffing? Any difference? Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Thank you. I'm surprised the wax doesn't lift the paint as in my experience and as you've shown the paint tends to sit on top of the surface of the gesso/ground. Also what protection does the wax offer please? It isn't a UV varnish is it? Thank you again, your work is lovely.

Jaquard, the manufacturer, states: Dorland’s Wax Medium is a museum-quality, matte finish protective coating. It is unsurpassed for cleaning and preserving antiques, woodcarvings, bronze, plastics, and other items worth protecting. For use over paintings photos, picture frames apply by rubbing wax over surface. Let harden for up to several days then buff with soft cloth. Dorland’s Wax Medium seals artwork with a clear, tough satin finish. It will not yellow or turn brown with age like some resin picture varnishes. Apply unthinned, brush smooth, and let dry several days if polishing is desired.
