Second part of an interview with 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, which was shown on Danish television in 2004, in which HH Karmapa discusses the essentials of Tibetan Buddhism, including a discourse on suffering or "dukkha" as it pertains to Buddhist practice. HH Karmapa says that human suffering is caused primarily by the three basic emotions of desire, anger and ignorance. He goes on "We all want happiness. No-one wants suffering at all." He then states that the reason we don't find happiness in earthly things is because of their transient nature.
HH 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje is the head of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism (see his official website www.karmapa.org ) Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje is the reincarnation of the 16th Karmapa who, after the Chinese invasion of Tibet, started to establish Tibetan Buddhist centres in the West.
