😍 almost 10 years of listening to Karnivool, and I still think they're the greatest Australian Band EVER.

By far my favorite song these guys have. I tell everyone I can about them.

Saw these guys in 2007 at the Monkeybar in Huntington, WV, along with Nonpoint and Skindred. They were amazing then, and still amazing now. Love to see them again.

Every time this song plays my volume goes up just that more. Blew my speakers to this one pretty sure. Totally worth it.

that solo has the wickedest polyrhythms. better than anything ive heard in ages.
@lemonsys3 жыл бұрын
@@TomEJSawyer lmao, thank you for ‘educating’ myself from 10 years ago, not so sure who looks more foolish - also FYI, a song can be in 4/4 and still have polyrhythms - I used the term (again, 10 years ago, LMAO) to indicate a rhythmic pattern in the guitar solo which overlays the 4/4 timing of the song which is not itself in 4/4. If that doesn’t meet your technical definition of a polyrhythm, well, ok, but give me another word that expresses the idea of a melodic idea which is not in 4/4 overlayed on the dominant (4/4) meter of the song. From the way you are using the word it seems like you think polyrhythm is just when a song has more than one time signature, but that’s not what it is - feel free to educate me better dear internet sir!
@lemonsys3 жыл бұрын
@@TomEJSawyer the point of a polyrhythm is that you have two rhythmic cycles that repeat at different intervals, and the guitar solo definitely does that against the 4/4 played by everything else - so I’m not sure who should be more embarrassed, myself from 10 years ago, or you now.
@lemonsys3 жыл бұрын
@@TomEJSawyer frankly, the whole song could be described as polyrhythmic, although it has corrections to make things line up every 16 beats - but the correction only happens in the 4th bar of 4; the first 3 bars of 4 are polyrhythmic.

@@TomEJSawyer i dont think you know what polyrythms are.. the song is in 3/4 btw

Tools great - thanks for the rec. I also like the solo in this song - it has a section at 2:04 where there is a repeating rhythmic motif that doesn't align with the dominant meter. Someone uninformed might call it polyrhythmic. Not sure what an informed person would call it. I like it. Do you like it? How would you describe it? Do metronomes help you figure out time signatures? Or do they do keep tempo?

Still my all time favourite band. saw these guys live last year. was lucky to be in the front row. the show sold out in 3 hours. They sound so much better live. Like just tight, punchy and ethereal.
