This girl has a very active routine! She plays the violin 🎻, sings, dances 🩰... and her parents are always with her supporting her. I remember that as a child I also have many interests, and ballet and music were one of them. However, it was never possible and with the passage of time that desire and interest in ballet faded. But I never lost my admiration for this discipline. The gracefulness, the majesty and the elegance with which those rigorous and torturous movements are executed leaves me amazed.

Congratulations! I got my first pointe shoes 2 weeks ago, had my first time in them in class last week. I am just a little bit older than you though. I am a (very) mature ballet student. I had waited since 1984 to get my first pair. I am still very excited. Enjoy the process. I am, it is so much fun!

Stay on pointe, so to speak. :) My wife took up ballet at age 17, about a year before we met, and 50+ years later, ballet is still one of her main exercise and fitness activities. She gave up pointe about 10 years ago, but still does everything else. One key to a successful exercise program is finding something you love doing and stay with it.

You said in your video that you were going to algebra; I am from Colombia and @ the time when I was in 10th gray, I couldn’t understand algebra, but my father sent me back to my Country for one year, and then I was the best one in algebra, because I was able to understand it in my language. You get the point & now your Dad gets the point too. I took ballet in my forties to help with my figure skating. It also helped me as a gymnastics coach to better understand how to help gymnasts incorporate elements of dance in their routines. It will keep you strong & flexible. Enjoy your points.

It can take an hour or more to fit them correctly. Trying different styles, brands, etc as well as box widths, shank strengths, pre arched or not. I worked in a dance wear store before the pandemic lol

This is the sweetest video! I remember when I was 13 and got my first pointe shoes too. Gamba, part of Repetto these days. And then Capezio Palovas, which were this gorgeous cool shade of pink, almost lilac-y. Very different from the peach-pink of Freed. Remember to always keep your back straight when going up on pointe!

I was in a ballet company, and you will really enjoy dancing on point. After your ankles and feet have become strong enough in regular ballet shoes, that’s when you go on point. You put the lamb’s wool in properly, and you cut your toenails properly and you treat your feet properly, you will have a great experience!!

I remember my first Pointe shoes. It IS a huge milestone and very exciting day for a young ballet dancer! Congrats! When I first got mine I wore them around the house to get used to the boxy feeling and I would stand on my toes in each position to brush my hair wash my face brush my teeth. Not sure what recommend now. Enjoy learning the Pointe work and don't forget to protect your toes! Good luck!
