I've been using the same Karrimor SF ruck-sack for about 20 years & have carried a lot of weight during this time in it. The pack looks like new still & probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. Lasted much longer than my larger Gregory pack. My particular SF is a smaller version without all those straps which would do my head in too (also would be dangerous as I ride a motorcycle & wouldn't want those straps flapping about).

They need more padding on the waist belts also it would be good to tuck all of the waist belt away if you don't want to use.I also mod mine by adding a skid plate on the bottom of the pack I use rubber car mats cut down and bonded on, helps keep the bergen from ripping or worn works a treat.Nice review 👍🏻

agree about all the long straps, they look shite, but here's a tip of the trade for tidying straps on any bag: small roll of black tape (electrician's tape), roll up the strap about an inch at a time until it's short enough then just tape it up

I kept my issued MTP one, the issued ones don't have waist belts!

I have the PRI version of that bag which is the one issued to the military, it was nice to have a look at the Karrimor version to see how they differed. Really like your channel, thanks for sharing. Be safe and be lucky, Wol.

How does this compare to the NI Rucksack ? I finally want to upgrade my old DPM NI Pack and I saw this. I like the ability to add (or detach) the larger rocketpacks, but I still like the size of the NI Pack and the two separate top compartments which is great for separating general odds and bobs from mission critical bits n bobs. The NI Pack doesnt have much padding around the back though.

Hard to say as its personal choice i do like the quality and for me a smaller pack forces me to choose only what I really need.

I cant see the value really. I bought a berghouse equivalent 45 lt. Too small for me due to height. Bought a Brit Short and IRR Longback. For the dollar, I'll put up with the few minor differences. And I got the Short and Longback for under the cost of a Karrimor 45. I put a German Sleeping Mat in near frame for padding ( its other and only real use). Depending on loads I put a different pad in there. Rocket pouches, sewed a few straps on in addition like the civvie version. If I'm under 10 12 kg I take the shortback, which seriously holds heaps. Or if above that take the longback, because I'm 6 foot 5. I got a broken pack ( main zips stuffed) given to me. It has same straps padding as Wisport or same as Webtex put on their longbacks. That will end up getting sewn onto longback. A mod Im doing atm. Pulled apart 2 rocket pouches. Im just putting a long pocket in it with matering from another rocked pouch. Just a 3 lt bladder pouch on back of pouch. And taking the zip and pack to the bootmaker. He is going to put zip on lid so I can throw a rocket pouch there.

There are various options for tidying your straps, personally I use velcro cable ties: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017K3WPL6/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1460818335 Or there are these sort clip things, but personally I think theyre pricey for what they are, hence using the velcro instead: www.amazon.co.uk/OneTigris-Tactical-Management-Dominator-Accessories/dp/B00OTLX3H8/
