Most people would stop complaining if those movies had intermissions, same as you have breaks between episodes. That said, I really see a problem with pacing in a lot of recent long movies. The Batman, EEAAO, No Time to Die, Across the Spider-Verse and MI Dead Reckoning all could've been trimmed by 20-30 minutes without losing much. It's even worse with the last two because you spend 2,5h in a theater only to get a cliffhanger. You're telling me Citizen Kane can tell a man's entire life story in 2 hours but Tom Cruise doing stunts needs 164 minutes just to get to a midpoint?

Goro Miyazaki directed a great little animated movie called from up on poppy hill in 2011. It captured the ghibli magic for me, and whilst it couldn’t trump some of the ghibli GOATS it’s def in the top 10 and is a really fun and cute time. @@someoneghvjvj1808 Yeah, but let's also not act like the script/story is the best part about From Up on Poppy Hill... In fact, the script is usually what people say is the weakest part. The directing, the visuals, the nostalgic and wonderful presentation of school and adolescence are what people praise the movie for (and these deserve to be credited much more towards the director, Goro than one of the writers, Hayao). The music's also great but that's irrelevant to my point. I think it's only right you give Goro his praise when it's done well like in From Up On Poppy Hill and criticise him when it fails like in his other 2 movies

from up on poppy hill is a pretty decent film, a weird plot and a very inconsistent tone, both riding a weird line between Charlie Brown childish joy and weird sensational soap opera melodrama. If the Disney remakes are supposed to "introduce a new generation to the classic stories", it's essentially calling them an ad campaign for kids to see the originals. They aren't good movies, and if spending millions of dollars on a worse remake just to make kids see the originals... Wouldn't a poster be much cheaper, and probably more effective?
@aarkproductions Жыл бұрын
Dude be honest Would you actually see a remake of snow white? Disney can't repackage and resell their products anymore without being controversial... Think about it... People are gonna see it anyway because an honest remake of their own material doesn't likely survive today Yea the jungle book and beauty and the beast worked but that didn't last long before they started loosing money My brother didn't even know about the cinderella remake
@matman0000003 ай бұрын
They're also remaking the wrong movies. Their 90's animation like Atlantis and Treasure Planet would be perfect for a live action remake, because they're not such recognizable classics, have a more realistic art style and their stories are perfect for an action adventure blockbuster with wide appeal. But they were flops and Disney only wants to ride on the older films' success, so it probably won't happen.

There is no way Barry season 4 could be considered “minimal” in regards to Hader’s directing. Anyone can make a 30 second scene look great with 15 unnecessary cuts to give it a more “action” feel. But a lot of his most pivotal scenes are just 1 extended shot with ALOT going on. And, if you don’t know much about filmmaking then you’ll think that’s lazy but lemme tell you… it’s insane how much effort goes into a single tracking shot. The lighting for each second with a MOVING camera has to be perfect, the actors have to be extensively blocked and ensure to hit their mark each time, the special effect have to hit in a very hectic scenarios etc. And although this season lacked as much comedy as the previous seasons, anyone that calls Hader’s directing boring or lazy is a moron when it comes to making film and television. For context, simply go back to the scene when Gene and his manager break into the reporters house and soak in just how much is happening in camera with just a single tracking shot.

Live Action: It CAN work that way, like Cinderella and Jungle Book. But it works better on the more flawed films with room for improvement rather than the near perfect ones for BaTB. And it needs to an ADAPTION - with changes made to better benefit a live action approach - rather than a shot for shot of the animation. Scorses: I think if he’s gonna give us the long run time that long, he needs to take a lead out of Hateful Eights book and make intermissions great again. I really hope Goro Miyazaki gets another chance because I really liked the one movie of his I've seen (though the implied incest threw me off for a bit)

Goro wasn’t supposed to direct tales from earthsea but he did anyways

Cars 2 is a great movie that I always enjoy watching, and personally is the best in the franchise.

Agree with Cars 2. It was a lot of fun, was great to have Michael Caine in the film, and the animation had improved from the 1st.

I think some scenes are fun but there’s not much substance to it when the plot is awful the villains motive makes no sense so you establish a new energy source and is well known for it but you sabotage it to support big oil which can also hurt your reputation this is hurting my head

@@staringcorgi6475 Dude, it's a film about talking cars...

@@r4h4al but the first cars was more coherent than this and chick hicks had a more realistic motivation which is of ego dudes willing to do deplorable stuff in a race to win

Spiderman No Way Home is a 6.5 out of 10. Most overrated film in history. There is almost no substance other than the novelty of getting to see versions of characters we haven't seen in a while. The Flash was better.

Thank you Karsten for defending The Irishman, that film gets way too much hate
