Really interesting watching younger vs. older players. Younger players seem to have so much extra motion in their strokes, almost floppy, and as they age strokes get more compact and simpler. I might be reading into this since Karue is always the compact stroke king on the court.

Well I hate to disappoint you but in order to qualify for a slam you have to be ranked in the top 120-130' so he still has a way to go. I like Karue but I don't think he has the weapons to be a top one hundred player in the world imo. I truly hope he proves me wrong but I have a very good eye for talent and have scouted and predicted Tsitsipas, Thiem, Zverev, Rublev, Tiafoe, to name a few and also Andrei Medvedev and Albert Costa over twenty years ago when they won the Rolex Orange Bowl as juniors. I wish Karue all the best this year and throughout his journey 🙏

@bballah9969 it's a message of support and ecouragement, to keep enjoying the journey and imporve by 1% a day mentality, and keep dreaming while not being a prisoner to those dreams. With all due respect. With small steps and playing in Challenger's and above with higher level opponents, then last season, he will grow and improve. And mathematically, he can get to French, and if it's not this year, why can't it be next? A prayer of small steps is a beautiful poem, have a read. As is Kiplings If Poem. Also, with respect. I predict a lot of things if 10% of them happen and I list them out doesn't mean I am now a guarantee to win the lottery EVERY week.
@nicholasdemetriades9154Күн бұрын
I beg to differ. Confidence and mental strength are huge at this stage. He is improving at age 31. That is a testament to his desire. I believe barring injury he will break into the top 100. I wish we could wager.
@bballah9969Күн бұрын
@@nicholasdemetriades9154 He won't make the top 100 by the time the French Open comes around and you will remember I told you so. His game is more of a counter puncher and he doesn't have enough weapons to be a top 100 player. I truly hope he proves me wrong and I would like to see him make the top 100 or better. I will come back to your comment in a few months when the French Open is here and will see.

Karues serve no doubt is 5-10% harder and more efficient than last season. Its giving him more freedom out there to play his amazing groundstroke game with lesser stress. Ive played with both rackets hes played with and can say for certain that with yonex, Ive always had issues with serving bombs. When i jumped into the Tflight, even aero and more circular oriented frames, things started clicking. Maybe its a head thing but I think it was a very smart change. He can keep up with the big boys on serve now and they are gonna have to worry about outgrinding a top100 baseliner.
@flooronthewall2 күн бұрын
Yonex with that rectangular head shape has shorter mains so there is less power from strings snapback.

Really enjoyed watching this, because it demonstrates the differences in equipment so clearly (to me). When Karue has time to set himself, this racket can generate as much power as needed. Plenty of aces, and many ground stroke winners hit the back wall on the second bounce. This seems like a scalpel, compared to his previous racket, which was more like a club. Volleys are looking very crisp, and it seems to be much more manoeuvrable in the hand under high speed conditions (service return). However, there do appear to be some downsides; I did notice a few times that while being stretched wide, there is a lack of power and depth on some shots. This may be due to the lower swing weight. Overall though, I'm starting to think its a step forward, because ANY player will take time to adjust to this kind of change, but we're already seeing some positive signs, and I think this match was better than the last one. Colton (14.22 UTR) will be a bigger challenge I think than Cannon was (13.83 UTR). If using the Percept, I would have thought Karue's chances against Colton would be highjer, simply because he was used to using that racket. With the new racket, even though I think it will give an ultimately higher level, there still a question of time getting used to it. I'm not sure that Karue is quite "tuned" to the new racket yet, so I think the chances are a little lower, as compared to the Percept. Again, I'm hoping to be proven wrong. I am crossing my fingers Karue makes it to the semi, maybe against JJ. He might even make the final if all goes well. I think maybe James will be in the final from the top half of the draw, but hey, who knows with sport, right?

He keeps going slice serves on Sell's forehand. Sell already knew how to break his serve and force some errors on his groundstrokes.

That was a really good game from Karue, he can build on that. But the video is a compressed Version of the game and only the good rallies are shown here. If you saw the whole game, there were a lot of simple mistakes in between that the top 100 don't make, and Karue is trying to be top 100. After longer rallies, Karue just gets sloppy and no longer positions himself correctly to the ball. He also seems stiff sometimes, doesn't bend his knees far enough to play the flat balls safely over the net. His ball toss is not consistent, he throws it from the right slightly to the left on the deuce side, which means he loses control and his rate drops. He did better that a few weeks ago in preparation, but he seems to be falling back into his old style. His return rate isn't good enough either, he doesn't anticipate well and his movement seems too stiff. But it was enough for this opponent. I'm not a Karue hater , I really hope he makes it into the top 100. I know you have to give him time with the new racket and not criticize him too much right away. All the best for the next match. Quarter-finals on a Challenger are worth all the respect.
