Thanks for the great explanation and demonstration of the effects!! And as always thank you for showcasing my pens!! I do want to add, London Pen Co does stock pre-ground nibs from Kirk Speer. So they can be added to any new pen purchase.

My favorite Pelikan M800 nibs are broads. YRMV. Interesting video, thanks.

Good choice!

Thanks for this interesting video :) The Imperial grind looks great! Interestingly, Kirk's webpage doesn't advertise it as having any reverse writing capabilities. But that versatility seems to be its main selling point!

Yes, the versatility is what drew me to it! I highly recommend it.

1. Franklin-Christoph has a specialty grinds available on their pens, including the Stub-Italic-Gradient. $150-$250. 2. Sailor and Good Blue offer the Zoom nib on some pens. It writes wider the shallower the angle to the paper. 3. Thanks for all this info and opinions.

This was great - thanks for sharing! I've been thinking about buying some specialty-ground nibs online as I'm not likely to get the chance to see a nibmeister in the foreseeable future. Kirk Speer does indeed sell pre-ground nibs via Pen Realm - Bock, Kaweco, Pelikan, Lamy, Jowo, and even Pilot VP nib units!

This was really helpful! Kirk Speer comes to Pen Boutique (which is local to me) periodically. I've seen him once before and only did tuning and smoothing, but I think I'll be a bit more adventurous next time!

Wonder if they can make nibs into Sailor Naginata styles? Those things are way out of budget and hard to find.
@pdtrubber6 күн бұрын
Kirk has a new grind called Katana which mimic Naginata Tobias V2.
@brethilebontree66726 күн бұрын
Yes they can, I bought a Naginata style jowo nib through Pen Venture, it was ground by Monty Winnfield. Monty also sells them, but for me using an European webshop is easier and cheaper than getting it from the USA directly (custom fees and shipping fees are high)

Gena Salorino has her Perspective nib grind that is similar.
