Obbo Zegeye's truly intellectual prowess, dedication and passion is inspiring, and today's generation will learn a lot from this. @NBC - thank you for honoring him!
Thank you so much for Gash Zegaye and NBC Ethiopia for the interview. I think this generation got the multi-pronged land tenure and an overview of the prevalent oppression system our monarchs put in place.

It is a rare opportunity to serve actively and productively under four different Ethiopian regimes :- the Emperor, Derg (Military), EPRDF and PP. Obbo/Ato Zegaye Asfaw is a lucky and blessed man for such opportunity. I wish him long life with good health 🎉❤
"Land to the tiller" was a significant achievement in Ethiopia during the Derg regime. Thank you all the visionary leaders of the day like Obbo Zegeye Asfaw, who spearheaded this revolutionary change.

That is why Ethiopia is very poor country. We have now more than half percent population of Ethiopia is below poverty line still now. He is blaming the land lords now Ethiopia giving land for Arab, India rich investor by cheep price for me I prefer if the land was in the hands of Ethiopian land lords than in the hands of Indian and Areb owners.

@habtamuyimam8503 you're wrong , you misunderstood the concept of land to the tiller . It was a progressive idea by then, and still acceptable and fundamental necessity to our country.

Feudalism existed in all parts of the world. Only in Ethiopia, folks sit on their behind still talk about it & politize it! Even in the US until recent time, there was 'share cropping'. Landowners own the land, and the farmers share the crops. That's exactly what existed in Ethiopia. In 2024, you all better talk about the mess you created & current choas!!

@gabigebreal7620 The sad part they talk about feudalism but never created a better world for the 99.9% who's living without basic needs. Farmers still pushing pairs of oxen by hand as ancient civilizations. No access to hospitals, electricity, clean water etc.. Their agenda is only fingerpointing, talking about tribalism while the 'few' getting rich from corruption. Very unproductive bunch!!

@@gabigebreal7620you are trying to justified nonsense. Now you are trying to bring it back now way. Go to hell never gonna happen.
The fundamental & most relevant to current politics is the question who formulated the land tenure system & how it had come to existence? Land to tiller or land to the owner (indigenous) people?
It's called leftist propaganda....in ethiopia during the the king whole population was 23 millions there were no short of land actually 2/3 of ethiopian mass land was covered by forest only 1/3 of the land was used for farming...

Feudalism is alive and kicking well in the present day Ehiopia. This time the feudal lords are the ethno political cadres who are controlling and selling land at an astronomical figure . Their politcal power rests on total control of land .We need land reform and privatization to dismantle the Oromo Tigray feudal cadres political stranglehold on the economy and the country as a whole .It's appropriate once again to say down with feudalism.

I appreciate A to Zegeye's balanced views. Diversity is an untapped resource in Ethiopia. Rather is considered as a disadvantage. One thing I don't understand is we forget the level of development of society during feudalism. It was the system that dictated the then rulers to rule the way they did. Had the Gurage, Oromo, Welayta, or any other ethnic group been in power, would they rule differently or rule oud side the feudal way? Doesn't time or era determine the weapons, way of thinking N behaving and so on. I am not supporting any group. Just for the sake of being fair.
