66 comments were here before mine. Too bad many of you will not come back here to read my comment to clarify some of your confusions. There is no question whatsoever that Barrister is the creator of the fuji genre, an off-shoot Were music, which was mostly just Sakara music. Before Barrister, when Were practitioners graduated to make albums, they invariably made Sakara music: Jolly Lawa, Saka Laigbade (my cousin), Sikiru Abinuwaye, etc, all seniors to Barrister. From the very beginning, Barrister who coined Fuji, moved away from the Sakara beat, although his main drum was still sakara manned by Tunde Balogun Oyadolu up till at least 1980. In the mid to late 70s, he began to use gangan in support of the dominant Sakara drum, and had 2 gangan drummers as at 79. He did not use string (goje), a staple of Sakara music, opting to use the simple mouth-ogan, which he played from time to time in live-play throughout the 70s. Interestingly, Monsuru Akande, who also played Fuji, released an album slightly ahead of Barrister, but it was never called Fuji. His adoption of Fuji as his genre, was after Barrister has already popularized Fuji in the early 70s. Monsuru Akande who never became a huge Fuji star always made a contentious claim of the first Fuji record.

MONSURU AKANDE, Sikiru Ayinde B, G Kollington Ayinla, all started with Sakara lyrics. GKA and SAB also used a kind of flute in their early records. K1 was right as corroborated by GKA in his records 'No Shaking' and 'Back to Sender'

The difference between Sakara and Fuji music is the instrument. SAB branded Sakara as Fuji by taking out sakara drum (round saucerlike drum) and replaced with small talking drum (gangan). WAB did not invent or pioneer Fuji music. Kollinton (Kebe n'Kwara) add drum set (jazz) and bata drum to differentiates himself from SAB. Sakara is more of Yoruba folklore mixed with Islamic religion thats why it's most popular during Ramadan (Aji Were). My point is that SAB branded Fuji hence he should get credit.

This man evidently sang a genre of music roughly known as Ajisaari music, which Barrister also sang in his early years. However, this does not give any point to Wasiu Ayinde Marshall's camp, unless there is anywhere the man mentioned this music is fuji. I was even expecting fuji music to be written under his name.

Wasiu ishola K1, has hidden agenda on this controversial Issue and all is about bagging national award like MFR, OON e. t. c which he quite knows that his antecedent so far on Fuji is not enough to shoot him to attain national award except he uses politics. Check his life style right from his youthful age , he is a big copycat, he used to place himself in SAB shoes who was naturally endowed unlike him that is fake .SAB bagged honorary PhD from Disney World due to his advertisement of magic museum with his music 'eja nla nla be ni sale Odo toto giripa omo Adama o'.This Album popularise and made sales for the museum .Let's ask ourselves where and how Wasiu ishola came about his Dr. of Music. He claimed in 1993 that he is the king of Fuji by organising Kangaroo committee to enthroned him. He claimed that he is Oluaaye of Fuji meaning creator of Fuji so all this while he is a fake. Listening to this music heaven and earth know that this is sakara like Olatunji Yusuf and also was released during the Fuji and was not named Fuji. lnfact, aye oniro ko no da, ise oniro ma baje no.

The truth can never be changed and if K1 has decided to destroy Barrister legacy no problem history h will never forget him,and he should know that his own destruction is coming very soon. And this very Wasiu Ayinde has sang in his old album and praised Barrister as Fuji creator why is it now he has decided to rewrite the history of fuji.

This is different from fuji entirely. I am disappointed in k1 for claiming Barry was not the founder of fuji music. I am k1 fan and i have been following and listening to his music since 80's. If at all barry was not the founder of fuji music, the statement should not come out from k1. bcos in 80's , while writing his name on album he would include barrister's name as his boss.

this is without doubt were style when SAB started with were which was like this already and he call his group ajisari group but as time goes on he changed his style and call his brand fuji music and defined it by the virtur of that anybody that want to say anything about fuji dont have any point saying SAB was not the creator of and that time he call his group sikiru ayinde and his fuji group,

Stop lying. For goodness sake, stop all the stupid lies and rewriting of history. Fuji is not Were. Stop parrotting Wasiu's lies. Fuji is one of the many genres of music that evolved from Were. Would you also say that Sakara, Apala and Awurebe are Were too? Enough of the stupid lies please.

He sings his song as follow, Salanko sagogo mowo. .bonti se jija re. Wasiu Ayinde himself at dat time has nt started were in lagos island. Wasiu was right to say dat fuji slang was common among d were followers at d time. They used to bring barrister from mushin to come and played in lagos , dats how he got exposed to d islanders. He picked up d name fuji from d islanders during d were competition at Onala , lagos.

Sunday OGUNKANMI: No. Not anywhere close to reinforcing Wasiu's argument. He claims Barrister is not the creator of Fuji music. The only way he can win that argument is by presenting evidence of anybody else calling their music Fuji before Dr Sikiru Ayinde Balogun. Dr SAB already gave Jolly Lawa his due respect in Fertiliser (1985 album) as one of his seniors in Were music. Wasiu was either lying in his 1981 album when he called Dr SAB "Fuji creator" or lying now that he claims he wasn't. There is only one established liar on this topic and it is Wasiu Ishola.

this record came out the same time when barrister sang "bomode mawi, won a ni emokan" etc. barrister categorically stated his own fuji. these musicians never confronted barrister in their time. their drums were sakara, omele sakara, shekere, igba, goje and small shekere. but barrister drums includes all above and gangan, iya ilu, konga, bembe, agogo, akuba, trumpet, agogo, jazz...so they are not alike. and I know Jolly, I was born/schooled in elegbata in Offin/olowogbowo. he sang sakara. i lived all my young adult live on Lagos Island. k1 didn't do a good job on this.
