Do the step down/up rings have to be magnetic, or can they just be metal?

@@jadie1234a Oh no, the step up rings are just regular metal rings. The magnetic ring comes with the actual filter.

@@LiamPhotoATL So the magnetic ring that comes with the filter sticks magnetically to the regular metal rings, right?

@ no the magnetic ring that comes with the filter screws on the front of your lens or onto the step up rings, and then the filter itself can be magnetically attached and detached

I don't doubt that these are high quality filters, dyed optical glass, multicoated, metal threads rather than plastic. However, they are more expensive than B&W filters, which with Heliopan have been the traditional standard in overpriced filters. Tiffen filters of the same size, optical glass, multicoated, cost a third the price of Kase. Of course, the Tiffen filters don't have the that little magnetic adapter ring which give you the option of magnetically sticking the filter on the lens rather than screwing it into the lens front. So, the buying question is whether that magnetic ring (and its relative convenience to use) is worth an extra $100 per filter?

@@randallstewart1224 to be honest, just giving you my two cents worth when it comes to Tiffen filters I won’t use theirs. I made the mistake of buying one of their ND filters a number of years back and it added weird purple fringing to all of my photos so I quit buying the cheaper filters myself
