Madagascar is an Island and they could be using Madagascar Vanilla in the cereal. It is one of the best vanillas you can get. Reunion Island makes vanilla and the two islands create about 75% of all of the worlds vanilla. Both of these island are in the western part of the Indian Ocean.

Yes years ago you could buy those large squares of Shredded Wheat. That was the name of that cereal you had to break it up and eat.

Madagascar is an island. Madagascar Vanilla is a thing ☺ Usually one of the gold standards in the Vanilla game. So I guess the word play on the box "Island Vanilla". I like Kashi, they are just expensive...

I used to eat Frosted shreeded wheat from post it was so good. But they stopped making it last year.

I agree with you Tami, the marketing is off. If it says island, then I would think coconut and autumn, a fall spice of sorts. I’m not a fan of shredded wheat. It’s the texture that I just don’t like. If I did, out of the two the island would be my pick. Thanks for a great review.

It's so funny you posted this today Tami because I just commented on another one of your videos about this cereal! Since you said the island vanilla tastes exactly like a frosted mini wheat I see no point in spending almost $6 on these. So I appreciate you saving me a few coins 😊 I hear the term Madagascar vanilla thrown around a lot along with Island vanilla. Like you said it's pretty slick marketing and you really don't know if that's what you're getting or if they could just be using some cheap extract. Definitely you can tell the difference between vanilla and vanilla bean and while this claims to use vanilla bean if you can't taste it and it just tastes like generic vanilla might as well get the cheaper product!
