The work that Hindus and Indians have to do to write actual history is incredibly challenging. Huge respect to historians and scholars like Sitaram Goel, Vikram Sampath, Meenakshi Jain, Shefali Vaidya, J Sai, and many others. It is not just about documenting the correct facts but also undoing the fiction on which generations - people and institutions - are raised. PS: Waiting to get it in Hindi as most people in my circle speak and read Hindi. Hope that's released soon.

People should also read Kubernath Sukul's book, "Varanasi Down the Ages" and Diana Eck's, "Banaras the City of Light"..Extremely comprehensive coverage of Religious-Socio-Commercial history of Varanasi in both these books..

while travelling I met marathi family at jabalpur who was born at kashi and had sasural at jabalpur. They stayed for generations outside maharashtra and still spoke marathi within family.
