Kashmir Valley Railway - Train Crossing at Qazigund, Kashmir: Winter 2020
While shooting I had a great company of the kids from the local village. Quite some photo shoots and sharing through bluetooth and an hour of waiting in the evening cold, the two crossing train, delayed by 40 minutes crossed each other at Qazigund, Kashmir. The video was shot in February 2020.
The fastest and cheapest way to get to Srinagar or beyond from the plains of Jammu is to take a share taxi (Rs.200 to Rs.300) to Banihal and take a train to Srinagar for just Rs. 20. Unlike the road route, the train will take only around 90 minutes to reach Srinagar from Banihal, where as the road will take close to 4 hours. The video was made over 2 days travelling back and forth by many trains. The video also includes some outside the train perspective as well. The video was shot in the month of February when the valley was dry and with less snowfall, it was looking even more dull. I had the train journey from Banihal to Srinagar and further to Baramullah multiple times over two days and make this compilation. This is not one single journey in Kashmir valley. I also hired a motorcycle to roam around the valley and captured the train in few places. One such place is this wonderful bridge / viaduct near Qazigund. I highly recommend a journey by train in Kashmir Valley.
