When our traditionalists and the imported politico-religious conglomerates have buried our inner voice under the minarets of polished marble and warm 'Hammams' by being liberal with their petrodollars with the locals. When Naem Saab said the above couplet, was he aware that such people will tear him up, if he were, to tell the truth. Would he become Mansoor of Kashmir? Why cannot we promote mysticism and spiritual aspects of our religion? It is about humanity. It is about Ishq. It is about finding your self within you and not outside of you. Don't be under the delusion that something exists outside you. What is outside you, is all illusory. If anything exists, it is He-the Absolute and it resides in you- the Consciousness. Therefore, 'Know thyself' if you want to know the truth. Because of our deeds, God has made us forget ourselves and in the process, we are missing to know Him. It is time that people of the likes of Naem Saab teach us the truth and turns us- 'the copper' into 'Gold.' A word for Rashid Sahib. He has rendered a mystic piece in an unconventional way, different from stalwarts like Rashid Hafiz and Gulzar Mir but has been no less outstanding, sweat and pleasing. God bless you. I would suggest, you select a few more such mystic pieces and render them.
