Turing is the first chess logic that ever created. When the logic was created they dont even have computer strong enough to run it. No computer, so alan turing, calculate it by hand pen and paper. He play one game and it took 1 week to complete the game.

Turing was the Einstein of computers. The man's total understanding of the field and level of insight and inventiveness was incredible. Much respect to him and the gifts he gave us, and let's all learn to respect each other's personal lives so that we don't lose anyone else in the manner that we lost him.

I imagine in the earlier days of computer chess that there would have been sudden spikes of improvement, rather than consistent and steady progress, as more programmers and teams started working on engines. Even recent history has shown such a spike with the introduction of Rybka, which I'm sure increased the top rating by way more than 30 points in certain releases

What rating would this program have on this setting? Current top programs on very good machines have a rating around 3200. It is generally agreed programs improve by about 30 points a year. That would mean this program could have a rating over 1000. Which seems very high. So the 30 point annual improvement does not go back 60+ years.
