Pianists really amaze me, how do they split their brain into two different entities in order to play completely different hand movements, time signatures, rhythm, dexterity....I can't really put into words the complexity of physicality required to play compositions like this. Incredible.
@timothyhansen464810 ай бұрын
I'm nowhere near as good as this, but I do have an answer: practice. You know how you don't really think about what you're doing when you walk? It wasn't always like that; Babies have to spend a long time getting a handle on that skill. However, once you put enough time into it you stop thinking about it entirely. Some part of your brain sees a pattern in what you're doing and starts picking up the slack for you. Playing piano, or really any difficult skill, is just like this. You do the same thing over and over, and eventually your brain picks up on the patterns. It's actually a little freaky watching your own mind figure stuff out on it's own, learning to do things that feel like they should be impossible. But, it is possible. It's just how the human brain works. Do the thing a lot, then it becomes second nature. Some people think this somehow takes away from the "specialness" of attaining such high proficiency in a thing, but I disagree. If anything, it's more impressive. You need to truly love a craft to sink that kind of time into it.

Idk about everyone else but I don’t really split my brain in two at all. I have to practice each hand separately, then together. Eventually the rhythms of the two halves merge into a complete piece. I can hear the two halves fully separately in real time, but my hands move together and anticipate and thus rely on each others movements.

My Grandfather had a very special ability with the piano. There is a recording of when I was little, I was at my grandparents' house, they had a piano. My grandfather was playing ‘La Campanella’ (This same piece) while I was admiring him and very happily dancing to the song. It was like Magic when he played the Piano, he truly took you to another world between his notes. I have very blurry memories, as I was about three years old. I would have liked to know him when I was older, to have been more aware of what I was going to lose in the future, to be able to spend moments together. Back then I was just a little girl who enjoyed his songs, now I miss him. Rest in Peace.

This is liszt’s piece in every way, it’s based on a theme by paganini on the violin. Many composers use themes from their adversaries.
