Castle Gardens Arcen, Netherlands
The video was taken with a GoPro Hero 2018 camera. As you can see, the image stabilization is not really good.
The entire Arcen estate covers approximately 450 hectares and has been divided into two parts since the construction of the N271. On the west side is the castle itself with castle gardens, on the east side is the area Lingsfort. The entire estate was purchased by the Limburg Landscape Foundation in 1976, and the castle was restored in the mid-1980s.
The castle gardens cover, within the total estate, an area of approximately 32 hectares. The land and buildings are the property of the Limburg Landscape Foundation. The site is divided into thematic sections, related to gardens, nature and culture.
The current Arcen Castle dates from the seventeenth century and was built by order of the Duke of Gelre. It was built on the remains of the castle The Nije House that was destroyed in the past. Originally there was the first castle 'Het Huys t' Arssen' (The Huys t' Arssen) from 1275 on a slightly more northerly location.
