My daughters just bought me the Brutus as an early Father’s Day gift! I had mentioned how much I was impressed with its reviews, but what really tipped the scales for me was the fact that it’s made in the U.S.A. 🇺🇸😃👍

Heck of a review James! If I had a need for one, you would’ve sold me on it. I actually received a new small spinning reel from Santa for use on my UL rod. Thanks for yet another plug! Lol.

It is a solid reel for the cost especially for someone that doesn't use a spinning reel

@@CrankingYanking next time you spool it up you should record it. I see a ton of videos on how to properly spool bait casters and spinning reels. Not too many out there on the proper way to spool a spincast. Just a thought.

Zebco was the standard for years where spincaster reels are concerned, but I think their quality has gone way down hill over the past 10 years or so. I had a 33 last year that only lasted a month before it was unusable. This reel is a beast compared to the 33 that I had.
@BankFishingAdventures9 ай бұрын
Nice review James! Always wondered about the Kast King Brutus since the quality is not very good on most of the spin cast reels. Heck, I still like using them in the wind and I sure ain't no kid. 🤣
@CrankingYanking9 ай бұрын
Thanks Stacee, it is a decent reel, seems to be well made and since I don't use a spinning reel, its a good option for me

Looks like a solid spincast I might get one of them for my daughter. Don't know if she could handle a spinning rod and those cheap Zebco reels are trash like you said. Glad to see a quality spincast reel exists
@CrankingYanking9 ай бұрын
Thanks, I got an extra one for my Grand-Daughter to use, she has been trying to use a 202 and it is frustrating for her trying to get it to cast. I let her use the Kastking and she could cast much better with it, so I got her one of her own.

I’m trying to get my son-in-law into fishing slowly and that would be perfect! I bought him a Zebco combo and he’s getting good at it. Maybe Kast King is the next step. Gotta have decent anti-reverse. Nice review. By the way, are you a guitar player? Is that a white Fender on the wall?
@CrankingYanking9 ай бұрын
Thanks, this is a nice little reel. Yes that is a Fender, but being the cheap son of a gun I am, it is a Squire lol - but it is a "hot rail" I think they call it so the pickups are upgraded, the acoustic is a Washburn and the Les Paul copy is an Epiphone. I wish I could play them, but I play around more than anything else.
@honeycreekfishing9 ай бұрын
@@CrankingYankingAll way better than the cheap Lyon acoustic I have, lol! I only play around on it occasionally.

Seems like a pretty solid reel. Definitely fast for a spin cast. Ive tried a few different ones, but like you said, they arent my style. When did yall get new uniforms?? Id probably start wearing them again if we didnt have those scratchy, ugly blue ones. Lol

That's a good honest review without trying to over-hype the product. I've seen some folks that can't use a spinning reel, some end up having it upside down on the rod, they're special, Lol.

I have tried more than once to use a spinning reel, I am not a fan. I could do it with a little practice but the spincast is so much easier.
@jasonmelancon80966 ай бұрын
Zebco omega Z02 is a good spincast. Bronze gears and the spool isolates back and forth for smooth as silk performance. And it has real ball bearings not bushings that look like bearings. Can find them around $40-$60 dollars. I got lucky and one a lot of 3 combos on eBay for $140. Not junk

Would it have any problems casting a 1/4 jig head attached to a swimbait?
@CrankingYanking8 ай бұрын
No sir, but I personally picked this reel up for smaller lures, I use a bait caster for larger lures, if that is an option for you. If not, this reel will handle it, but I would go with a heavier line for 1/4oz lures
