"Katyusha" (Russian: Катюша) is a Soviet Union folk song. It was composed by Matvey Blanter in 1938, and gained fame during World War II as a patriotic song, inspiring the population to serve and defend their land in the war effort. In Russia, the song was still popular as of 1995. The song is the source of the nickname of the BM-8, BM-13, and BM-31 "Katyusha" rocket launchers that were used by the Red Army in World War II.
These songs are for educational purposes and don't reflect my beliefs or are meant to further a political agenda and social.

When backed against the wall the reserves, workers and civilians made a partisan weapon to rain hell on Nazis. Played on the radio in Ukraine from 1942 it inspired the people to rise up and kick the Nazis out. How fitting it became part of their national songs. So that never again Ukraine/Mother hear no more the cannonade of guns.

it was wrote in 1938 as ducks said. it was wrote in the Soviet Union. the truck is called the BM-131 "Katyusha" Muliplte rocket launcher. the truck is not named Katyusha. its a nickname for the rocket system

Here's some other stuff about it and its names: "Katyusha" was attributed to it because of the cover designation "К" when it was still considered a "secret weapon", with its true designation being kept secret from those operating it until some point in 1942. There was also the БМ-31 or "Андрюша" (Andryusha) later on during the war. For the rocket launcher itself: M-x-y represented towed variants (M-8-24 would be a launcher carrying 24 rockets of model 8, M-13-16 would be a launcher of 16 model 13 rockets) BM-x-y describes a vehicle mounted variant (some had the same names despite being on different types of chassis; sometimes the rocket count was dropped, such as on the BM-13) Also of note is the Studebaker variant, the БМ-13Н (BM-13N) which was designated differently probably because it was based on a lend-leased American truck. As far as I know, this is the only variant designated like this.

Russia did not write this song. The composer of the music was a jew who was born in the governorate of Chernihiv (today Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine) at the times of the Russian Empire. So the music has something to do with Ukraine and can't be considered "only russian".

I have a question. In Russian lyrics the name was originally Katyusha, and Katyusha in Ukraine is Katrusya. Why here in this song the name is renamed as Tanya? Tanya and Katyusha are diminutive of different names, is it? Katyusha is for Ekaterina, and Tanya is for Tatyana. Is Tatyana and Ekaterina the same?

These are different names. Among other things, the Ukrainian version of the name Tatyana is Tetiana (Тетяна). Tanyusha is, rather, a Russified version (for example, in the Ukrainian novel Pan Khaliavskyi by H. Kvitka-Osnovianenko the form Tetiasia (Тетяся) is used. In addition, the Ukrainian pronunciation of the performers is far from perfect (there is a Russian accent). If people speak some language just because they want to be different from others, they are not always good at it.
