From sensible to bordering on insane, here are the most interesting ways that Kat Walk C2 owners have modified their VR treadmills for slickness, convenience, and simply to make them their own. These creative hacks are not for everyone and carry the risk of being unsafe, damaging, and warranty violations. This is indented for general entertainment and not endorsed by Kat VR, the Kat Walk Community Discord, or myself.
Thank you so much to all at the Kat VR Community Discord who created these exciting mods!

@@EndersVRcadehey man I'm POed😂😂😂 understandable because I'm 6Foot 6 and got one of theses things for free 260 or so lbs an CAN NOT find out how these shoes work ( I got 1 pair size 14 and some other smaller size then what I am)..... 18Dw or otherwise known as in the states as Dubble wide so I make my own shoes if needed, just my question is. Is there something Proprietary like an apple phone inside the shoes to make it work 😂? 😅😅😅 or how should I do this I have no idea? Please anyone help TY! 🤜🫡🤛

@@la24dogg21 So sorry I only just saw this (KZbin doesn’t notify me when someone replies to someone else’s comment even if I’m tagged). I imagine you might’ve figured it out by now, but if not, at least for my version of the treadmill, the C2, there are sensors that slot into the bottom of the shoes that Kat sells. if you can find a way to slap them in to your own shoes, they go, but it would be hard to do. Kat also sells extra shoe sizes on the website, but you’ll also need the sensors to go in them.

Thanks for this video. Very helpful and it was clear you put a lot of thought and work into making it. The thought I had was Armor All but I just got my C2 and am reluctant to start making alterations that I may, or may not, be able to undo if I don't like it.
@EndersVRcade
@EndersVRcade 11 ай бұрын
You are welcome, FrankClayton. I THINK someone on the KatVR Discord said not to use Armor All because it can erode the plastic in the treadmill base, but I could be mistaken. I wouldn't make any alterations until you've gotten comfortable with Veteran Mode (removed all the included velcro that the guide suggests), and even then, you might be fine with the treadmill with just that and the included oil. Then if you want reduced friction, you could try self-adhesive velcro that could be easily removed before going to these extremes. I only risked some of these because I had a spare pair of shoes.

The current KAT software includes the sprint functionality. It works as advertised with the Loco S system, in Skyrim VR. If I move fast enough, my character sprints. Fortunately, there's a mod that makes it so sprinting doesn't cost AP. After all, with the KAT, you're supplying your own AP, so if you're fit enough to keep sprinting, you should be able to. The newest software also supports jumping, though it's not as elegant as the sprint solution.
@EndersVRcade
@EndersVRcade 4 ай бұрын
Nice I didn’t know about the no cost AP mod to run. I really appreciate the big updates to the Kat Gateway software too. The ability to override foot sensor input with thumbstick is great when I want to strafe quickly, being able to save different game profiles, and jumping great in DragonFist Kung Fu (with foot trackers i can even jump kick).

Good stuff! You should do a follow-up video to confirm how long that grease lasts. I would try it if it lasts quite a while.
@EndersVRcade
@EndersVRcade Жыл бұрын
Thank you for letting me know that you would appreciate a follow up on the grease. Feedback like this letting me know what type of content interesting is really helpful! After about a week with it, it seems to stay “icy” for upto six hours and needing replacement/ not slick in about 9 hours of walking/playing with Into the Radius.

I've found that ditching the shoes all together to be the best. Wear two pairs of socks and sandwich the sensors between them over your toes. Less friction and no lubrication required.

You mean for a C1 treadmill right? I have a C2 with the sensors (small rectangular plastic boxes )on the bottom of the shoes that fit into a cut out in the shoes outsole. I can’t imagine using them without shoes ow lol.

I would love to hear your update regarding the Krytox lubricant! I have some Krytox 205g0 and 105 (second being more oily rather than greasy) laying around. I will try it out and if it’s worth it make a video on it! Since Krytox 205g0 is used a lot in the mechanical keyboard hobby/diy community it’s a lot more obtainable and affordable!

I really enjoyed watching this and I’ll definitely try out most of the mods! There is one thing that is holding me back from using the C2 Core more and that is that the waistband really hurts, I have a similar build to you so I was wondering if you experienced it as well. Maybe I am not wearing it at the correct height, the dial on the back is not set correctly or it’s too loose/tight but I can’t seem to find a sweet spot. The velcro on the right part of the band feels uncomfortable without something thick like a hoody and it feels overall like I am not wearing it correctly

@@producdevity No worries I tend to write too much myself. My belly, I find it more comfortable to wear the belt where I wear my pants belt (at the center of my hips, so it does not press against my belly. It’s supposed to be worn near the “narrowest part of your waist,” which is what the instruction said. Wearing it lower like I do will affect your center of gravity, make me feel like you are more likely to lean or fall forward but since I’m shorter at 5 foot eight, it works fine for me.
@producdevity
@producdevity Ай бұрын
@@EndersVRcade i indeed tried it after seeing you wearing it lower, I feel like it creates more friction and feels less like “walking” but I’ll give it an other shot! It also makes me able to wear the haptic vest doing that, so that’s definitely a plus!

Is there a cheaper alternative to this $130 lubricant that has the same functionality--if not, similar?
@EndersVRcade

I wish and even asked the person who suggested this and he said no. The only other thing I have heard of someone trying is baby oil, but that sounds really messy and probably has the same issue of picking up dirt and turning sticky, so I haven’t tested it. I might after this Krytox runs out but that is a big if and could be a long time before I do.

Hi Aeye, and thanks for watching my video. Unfortunately, when Quest OS or the game updates, Nexus often stops working until Kat can update their Nexus Software, Gateway, in response. I get the same three dots when this happens. Best thing I can recommend for now is to email service@katvr.com and give them as much information as you can (Quest OS Version, Game Version [If you can find it in Quest Store maybe, not sure) and what version of Gateway you have, that should hopefully get you a quicker response. Keep in mind it's middle of the night there right now I think.

Good afternoon. thanks for your work! what is your opinion for Krytox GPL 201 after a couple of weeks? it was worth it? I'm going to buy, but I would like to know how comfortable it is. in the video you haven't said the final decision yet
@EndersVRcade
@EndersVRcade Жыл бұрын
I think if you want the best, slickest (lowest friction) walking experience the Krytox 201 is worth it. However, if you are happy with the velcro-on-shoes (or better is the mouse skate-on-shoes) and included silicon oil and on a budget, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the Krytox. I hope that makes sense.

For the shoe mouse skate mod, why does the existing shoe need to be cut? Can the skate be placed over the existing surface?
@EndersVRcade
@EndersVRcade 6 ай бұрын
From what I understand from the user who came up with the mod, it's to keep the sensors as close to the surface of the C2 as possible. You know how when you lift your mouse off it's pad and it stops tracking? Same principle. However, I think others on the Discord have used it without cutting with success since then. Also, I think the intent might have been to remove the "backside" of the velcro on the shoes to eliminate any resistance but that's just a guess.

Does anyone know of a service that replaces the sensor batteries? I’ve barely used my KatWalk C2, and my third sensor unit has died, failing to hold a charge. KatWalk wants to charge me almost 200 dollars for just one unit.

@@EndersVRcade I found a local service that is looking for a replacement battery now. If they find them, they will replace hr batteries for roughly $25. So take it as a cautionary tale that you can not leave your shoes and treadmill charging for weeks at a time, or the batteries will die.
