Actually, it can be argued that Aang understands Katara better. Zuko is just trying to get on Katara’s good side and earn her trust. Aang knows that doing this will just consume Katara and do more harm than good. Revenge can vanquish your foe but you also lose yourself in pursuit of it. One thing I love about this show is how Aang and Katara help each other at their lowest points, it shows a far more healthy take on a budding romance between friends.

Agree with you about Southern Raiders when you really analyses it. Another thing with the Zutara argument while again it's fine if you ship is that while they argue that the emotional baggage is the same with them losing their mothers. While technically it's a positive for Kataang as well Aang has also lost his mother during the Air Nomad Genocide that would have included his parents. Also Zuko's mother isn't dead she's alive and back in the comics.
