Katalon Studio running in an Docker container

This is the first ever video on the internet which talks about Katalon Studio and its tests running on Docker container. There is no official release or documentation from Katalon team on Katalon Docker yet, but this video talks about it to showcase the taste of running Katalon studio from Docker container image with few simple commands from MacOS.

Is it possible to run mobile automation test cases using docker? Is there any docker image available for mobile automation ?

Actually, the container ID(which you said it as the name of the container) will be generated while running the test and lost after running.

Hi! Thanks for the video, but I run into a problem. I use the latest docker image (5.10.1) and when i run the image ( docker run --rm -v $(pwd)/KatalonDocker:/katalon/katalon/source:ro -v $(pwd)/reports/firefox:/katalon/katalon/report -e KATALON_OPTS="$katalon_opts" katalonstudio/katalon katalon-execute.sh ) it says: cp: cannot stat '/katalon/katalon/source/*': No such file or directory and then: Invalid argument: Cannot find project '/tmp/katalon_execute/project'. Could you please help me? What do I do wrong? Thanks in advance!

OK, I found it, it was my mistake, sorry. I had to mount the test folder in VirtualBox to a folder and then use this folder in the command instead of $(pwd). So if the the test folder is C:\Work\Katalon\test\MyTest , then I have to mount ie. /MyTest and then use docker run --rm -v /MyTest:/katalon/katalon/source:ro ...

Karthik Bro.. Based on what I understood from your video, Personally, I do not see any benefit in this new dockerization approach of Katalon Studio, other than getting the latest version from Docker Hub at any point in time.. For this scenario, I would spin up a grid using Selenium or Zalenium docker images and point my tests to the hub, so that I can manage the configuration such as browser name, execution timeout, etc. from the test client.. Let it be kalaton studio, CITS, Eclipse IDE, etc. Again, like you have mentioned, it is still in dev phase and the benefits could be more than what I have understood. Thoughts???

Yes Arun, there should be some new features coming in future by Katalon team, but as of now, the functionality is limited to just running tests on these docker containers via their own image.

i guess it goes into the katalon_opts variable which is defined in line 6 of the script
