She was good but not on their level. The fight was going on into their minds for who knows how long until she gave up and it ended in a few seconds in the real world with zero winning for real.it looks like it was evenly matched but truth is she never stood a chance to win.gamma are just too good.they were the ultimate soldiers of the war.and zero is apparently a gamma class null executioner (mentioned in his file.i guess he stood above some other gamma for some reason.there were a few gamma but we only know of him and 15 personally so far).killing someone thousands of times while he manages to off you a few hundreds (like she mentions in the fight)shows the skill gap.and she also had fancy null tech with her while zero only used a katana. And fifteen is fearsome.they were paired together before and zero's sword glows red on the bridge when the dragon comes.just like behemonth and Leviathan.i guess the toys were a metaphor to show us the tight history those two have.even if zero forgot it all and tries to remember it.15 did not attack him there and neither did zero even if he could have.i guess we will see zero remember his past and work with his old time pal in the next act

Therefore she's weaker and can predict fewer outcome possibilities than Zero. Secondly, realizing she cannot win and dies , she decides to suicide bomb Zero, for at least taking him out

For anyone sad about killing her, remember that If you were both full of chronos it would have literally been an eternal battle, each of you resetting endlessly every time you die. It really was a mercy. She was short of the drug and suffering withdrawals. The only way for the fight to have ended between two people who can reset time, was for her to run out of the drug and go into the 'time lock' described during chrono withdrawal, where time slows to a agonizing eternal hell of a single trapped moment...and/or at some point, she chose to not 'continue' the game anymore, and lets you kill her to spare her that fate.

Actually, the amount of chronos doesn't matter, NULLs only die if they lose the will to fight, and because you are a Gamma, you were trained to basically have infinite will, or to not even have it. She had nothing else to fight for, she knew she was gonna die anyway, and lost the will to live.

I was randomly recommended the KZ ost in youtube one day. It was this song that attracted me the most. Then I thought, "The hell is Katana Zero anyway?" I almost immediately bought it on Steam for the ost. I'm no stranger to video games, but I had barely touched games that were pixelated because I thought they wouldn't have complex stories and only focus on gameplay. I was so wrong. Katana Zero succeeded on every single front. Story, visuals, amazing pixel animation, soundtrack, gameplay. Zero's story was so enthralling and I found the worldbuilding to be so interesting. I continued to listen to Full Confession without even reaching the final boss yet and had never thought this would be a boss battle song. So when it finally started playing and Headhunter took aim after telling Zero she was sorry and there wasn't enough Chronos for the both of them, it was tragic. "We could have been real people..." is what cut the deepest. And I'll never forget that feeling of existential agony this game communicated so well to its audience.

My take is that she just gave up. She knew she died a lot more than Zero and... Just knew that NO outcomes lead to winning. Also Zero was gamma (I think longer prediction gauge and slow gauge, for us players, also I think the actual predictions are more accurate) and she was Alpha or Beta. In a way, Zero could predict her predictions. She could predict what's gonna happen in, say, 40s. And Zero can in, like, maybe, 60s. Therefore he can predict her acting on what she predicted for 20s. He's 20s ahead of her. (this is unofficial info and they can prolly do longer) From another dude's comment on another video, Zero was listening to the music to time his attacks better (this guy shoots on the 32nd beat, that guy throws at the 37th) Also important to point out is that I personally think that Headhunter crawling on the ground, slowing down, and down... Slowly... Was a representation of the Chronos withdrawal making you stop in one while and embrace eternity, I really appreciate that Zero cut her head off so she can't go into withdrawal.

It is fucked up to think that 2 null fighting has some pretty terrible outcomes, they'll fight forever in precognition loops, but since time isn't really passing until a decision is made and set in stone, does that mean either are actually at risk of running out of chronos? Or can chronos progressively run out, even in repeating timelines? Anyway, so basically one of them can only really lose if they give up, and if they get killed, it's actually a kindness, because it spares them from getting stuck in an ever-lengthening time loop of suffering

The battle starts out short, but as the NULLs begin to learn more and more about the enemy they both can counter more attacks before dying. It can't be too long because of prediction gauge tho. It's not that impossible that Headhunter just ran out of prediction gauge and her precognition was down, as she wasn't a gamma like Zero.

The game is never clear on the differences between NULL classes, so it's just a theory that Zero has better precognition. I do think she gave up, because she was tired of fighting. That's why she sets off the bomb vest - she doesn't want to kill Zero, she's just fighting him for the Chronos. She wants to die. From the way Chronos withdrawal is discussed, there is no escape. Even if you get decapitated or blown to pieces, it keeps going. If you could get out of it by doing that, Zero could have just decapitated his neighbors to free them after V murdered them. And he seemed pretty confident that wouldn't work.

the feel of the song is something I can only TRY to express i beat the game in a single day, with my girlfriend on a call (she recommended me the game) so i actually got to engage in conversation about the plot and game in general when i got to this fight, combined with the song and the plot to this point it felt incredible, i felt inmersed in the fight, like i was fighting a true equal. dying then trying again, getting further then shorter into the fight like a never ending struggle, like we were both trying our best to beat the other and both of us were failing, yet not being able to afford giving up what a game

Ok, hear me out. If they are both NULL, they both can predict time, failure and outcome, so yeah, in theory, it’s an endless battle. But this is a fight of timelines. Every “life” of Zero is a timeline. When you die in a level where Zero isn’t predicting the future (secret boss, headhunter), you move to a different timeline, where you are still at the beginning. The enemies in the previous timeline go on with their lives as if you died, which you did. This is the case here. Each time you die, Headhunter stays in that timeline and moves on with her business. When you win, you’ve simply found the timeline where you win. Headhunter just rewinds to another one, until she finds one where she lives. She’s alive in a different universe. However her lines “I’ve seen you make this mistake a hundred times already”, puts me off. What if she really is eternally suffering? Why should we trust a hallucinogenic V, if he could just be a manifestation of Zero’s paranoia? I think if Headhunter never finds a timeline where she wins the fight, she will at some point just persuade Zero not to fight.

I don’t think timelines are involved at all, Chronos lets you see the paths of the future, as in if you do this, this will happen, which will do this, etc, you guys are battling in the mind trying to overcome the other, finding a path that leads to success, when you die you just do it over again, because it’s not actually happening at the moment, you play zeros future vision, the camera feed at the end of each level is what actually happens

this fight took me so long that this hour loop honestly feels like what this fight is: you slowly but surely outmatching your opponents. Whoever is the better fighter wins and by god, you are he apex predator here. but it is as sad as it is awesome

If you can predict 4 of her attacks and get an attack in after each one, she'll drop her knife and you can start getting into position for that last strike. True to form, the fight gets easier the more times you restart, as you get better at responding to every attack she knows.

@@TheMinekBolt One of the reasons I absolutely love this game. They did such an incredible job interweaving gameplay mechanics with it's story and plot. It especially gets real fucky when you start doing extra playthroughs. You, like the null soldiers can see into the future. You have gone through multiple different trials to find the right way to accomplish the level or section. You know what's going to happen next and at some point or another can be capable of winning every time simply because it's an infinite loop of trying over and over.
