It’s fascinating to watch how her style change - she had signature moves in setting up jumps and positions in spins etc in the later years. She hasn’t developed them yet here which makes watching this programme so much more interesting. Thank you for sharing

Katarina Witt is my all time favourite female athlete, there is something very special about Katarina in that she has all the elements that make for a great but its her personality even at 13 years of age, you can already sense her greatest, so so cute !! Congratulations to the Socialist Unity Party and her coaches in providing the world with such talent, i miss the East German athletes from the Olympics it's just not the same without them.

Like so many other people here I enjoy watching these programmes of the "good old times" a lot😊. I'm sure I have seen most of Katarina's long and short programmes by now, but I'm desperately waiting to see one of her short programmes: Katarina dressed up as Mozart and skating to a modern potpourri of his music! Does anybody here know if this is existing somewhere on YT? I don't know know the exact year, but I'm pretty sure it was in the early 80's, between 1980 and 83). Maybe someone can help me. She first did 2Lz 3T at the 1980 worlds - she mentions it in the biography section of her website

Katarina Witt had irrepressible flair and musicality. Why did she not compete at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics? She did so at those year's Europeans and Worlds.

I think because of the European championship 1980 she didn't place where the east germany was happy to send her to Olympic and the other issue could be her couch Jutta Mueller hands was full with men and women's that can become champions and we know the placing in the Olympics and the east Germany was not going to help her Jutta Mueller because it was on the lake placid it's easy when there less people leaving the country and if u remember Jutta Mueller had one strike against her one more person in her camp every defected to west she could be in trouble

@@azbycx56 the person was Gunter Zoller so thank god that her team won 1 silver and 1 gold in 1980 and she was bless to get Katarina ...but one more point Anett her woman champion was coach by Gaby Seyfert the first east germany champ her daughter but because of what happen they took annet away znd give to jutta m they could not chance it
