*Pro Tip: If you want things to sound more puhekieli, just exchange OLEN with OON. For example Olen Aasiassa would turn into Oon Aasiassa. And all the OLET to OOT. For example Missä olet would turn into Missä oot? :)

It's not bad at all even you speak kirjakieli I recommend that you first learn speak kirjakieli and then Peace by peace puhekieli. Then People understands you better every where. Welcome to the Finland 👌Sorry my English is not perfect.

Kiitos for answering :) Every bit of help from the Finnish folks is worth a lot. I try to focus on kirjakieli while comparing some phrases to puhekieli, just to understand how it works. There is a lot to learn, but I will do my best. Cheers!

Hi 🙂 my fiance is half Finnish. He remembers when he was growing up listening to his dad converse with his grandparents in Finnish and he told me it sounded like gibberish. He's never really had an interest in learning the language but I find it fascinating. The first thing I taught myself was to tell him I love you in Finnish. So I have that down. I really enjoy your videos and listening to the Beautiful Finnish language. We will see how far I get with just learning some basic conversational phrases and sentences. Wish me luck! ✌️💖😊p.s my fiance did not even know the meaning of his name or how to pronounce it properly. It is Ruohomaki. I can't wait to marry him and take on his beautiful name.

To be a spefiic I'm not sure if you can ask "Missä Aasiassa olet", it straightly translates to "In which Asia are you" to my ears at least. Shouldn't it be "MissäPÄIN Aasiaa olet" or something like that? Not trying to nitpick, it just särähti to my ear so badly that I had to figure out if it's right or wrong way to say it :D

"Missä Aasiassa olet?", sounds like there are many Asian continents and you are asking which one. "Missä olet Aasiassa?" would sound better to me, but I am relearning Finnish. Your pronunciation is perfect and the distinction between puhekieli and kirjakieli is really well done. Does that exist elsewhere?, slang sure, but in Swedish not really, Japanese, I don't recall, here in L.A. not so much, sure surfers and valley girls talk different, but that is more like slang.

In Finnish, isn't there a different intonation in order to ask questions? Is the intonation of questions the same as the intonation of statements?
@KatChatsFinnish5 жыл бұрын
Hmm not really, like I know in English questions you tend to go higher up at the end right? But in Finnish it's quite flat or maybe emphasis on one word of your choice xD So yeah there's not really a difference :)
