Yeah, I love how this is being written. Sure, it sucks for Lucy, but it's all being done in a way that centres their relationship and doesn't make it office drama, or give one the excuse to lash out and hurt the other in retaliation. And on the back of all of that we saw Kate tell Tennant that she was the one to blame for messing it all up. Again, not spilling the whole thing and making Lucy into office gossip, but not allowing anyone to think Lucy did anything to break them up. Sometimes TV shows are really bad at writing couples past the point where they initially get together, creating drama for the sake of it, but after initially being worried about where this was going post Cara reveal, they've actually done a really good job of not killing the pairing, while still adding angst and a lot of depth to it.

Back when the breakup happened I said it was like Lucy was going through the stages of grief, and I love how they've allowed that to play out. Obviously it's not the actual stages of grief, but she's clearly going through a big emotional journey these past however many episodes. Initially she was holding onto her anger and that allowed her to keep the sadness at bay, but since Kate apologised, and did it at some cost to herself, now Lucy's lost the anger and has no choice but to feel the sadness. I keep saying it, but I feel like this relationship has been really well written. Which might sound strange given they've been broken up for possibly as long as they've been together. But for a show that is essentially a procedural drama with an ensemble cast, they seem to have taken a lot of care with this side plot.

I adore the brother/sister relationship that Ernie and Lucy have. Ernie is so attentive and has such a big heart. Lucy acts the same way with him. Ernie applies just the right amount of "intrusiveness" with Lucy regarding Lucy's relationships that Lucy doesn't become upset or angry. I wonder what the timing of the promotion was? I kind of want it to have happened before the Cara reveal, like Kate was commiting to Lucy back then but then it all blew up in her face. Maybe that's how she ended up transferring to the FBI instead 🤔 Alternatively, if it's a recent thing, then I guess it could be used to throw the idea of Kate being gone into Lucy's head, to push her along to the next step in dealing with her feelings about it all.

That original hook up is straight out of fanfic, I love it! I wonder if some little part of Lucy thought that Kate did transfer to Hawaii because of her, and then finding out she had a relationship in DC killed that idea. Or even just if the weekend they spent together meant a lot to Lucy and she's assuming Cara existed back then too, which tarnishes the whole thing. The fact that Kate might now have stayed in Hawaii for Lucy might remedy all of that.

So that's the thing Lucy avoided when she went to Kate's apartment, not to happen again thought a 1 night stand but 2 nights, half a year ago. I think Lucy is more invested from the start that she felt so hurt when they started to date for the 2nd time, feeling like a side piece. She's in love and Kate's trying to get near and to be forgiven, this two isn't over yet. I love them and missing their scene them together.

It feels like that Lucy started to believe in love again after see Kai 's. She also remembered about good part of their time and good side of Kate. Now I guess it is depend on her asking herself and reasserting is Kate is "the bet" she willing to take or not. Guess from the writer perspective now it is depend on whether Tori will stay on or not. This promotion from DC seems like the way out they wrote just in case of Tori leaving the show.

Not necessarily. With that time-line, she could have met Cara after her return to DC. I still think there's more than meets the eye with Cara.
