I bought The Kick Inside when it first came out and then bought the next 5 albums as they were released. A very unique artist to state the obvious and it would be impossible for me to rate the tracks because I love them all. She’s my next favourite artist after Elton.

Thanks for this. Definitely a very interesting artist. I like artists where you don't get the track on a first listen and you can revisit and find more.

Thanks John, I know very little about Kate except for her early singles and her breathy vocals. Based on your scores, I think I will certainly be purchasing this cd.

Same here. It's a voyage of discovery.

"Moving" (fantastic introduction track!), "Wuthering Heights" and "The Kick Inside" definitely deserved a 10: If those songs are not "out of this world", which ones are?

Good point. I think that, as I don't know much about her other album tracks, I was leaving room for something even better. I don't like giving loads of tens to everything like some reviewers.

@@eltonmusicfan Well, I forgive you as It's been more than 40 years I've been considering "The Kick Inside" as one of the best debut albums ever and I can perfectly understand this might not be an "instant album" as Kate Bush's Art requires repeated listenings AND understanding of her incredible lyrics at such a young age (the songs for this album were all written between 13 to 18 years old). But Frankly, do you know many artists aged 19 delivering such and album in which she deals with a suicide note from a sister pregnant of her own brother ("The Kick Inside"), a precise sum-up of victorian romantic litterature through the voice of a dead woman coming back to haunt the man responsible for her death("Wuthering Heights") and a perfect introductive song ("Moving") dealing with what is art and inspiration. "The Kick Inside" was and still is a unique album to begin with and like many people and critics, you'll change your mind about it if you decide to give it some more attention. I wish you all the best in that fantastic journey John. In a few years, you might release a new video about this...

@@cuckoofan Good point. Thanks for your comments. I do find that albums grow on me. I really enjoyed this one and certainly consider it either good or very good. But I may return to it and revise the marks. I'm finding that with London Town by Wings which I thought was Ok but now consider much better.

Moving is at least 8, The Kick inside is 8. Mam with the child in his eyes is 10, a once in a lifetime song from a very young enigma.

I would have rated "Moving" a bit higher. An 8. I think it remains one of her finest songs.

Great song. I really enjoyed it.

I think Moving (8-9), Saxophone Song (8-9), The Kick Inside (8).

John what equipment do you use to listen to music? Do you consider yourself an audiophile?
@eltonmusicfan2 жыл бұрын
No. Just a decent hifi, speakers well spaced. Good volume but not to annoy the neighbours.
