I love all your extended versions but I think this one is the most interesting. It starts very differently as if it was another song, then the backing vocals have a complete new melody. The work with the drums is fantastic. I loved the initial version but this remix allowed me to discover new things and it creates a wider universe within the context of the song.

@@seventyfive4169 Did you use the song to create the intro (up to 0:40) or is it a sample from another track? It’s so “Kate” and at the same time, it sounds completely different. It fits perfectly with the song and the highpitched backing vocals played in reverse. I’m very intrigued about this part and I find it really interesting and on point. I’d really like to know your creative process to reach such a sound.

@@Inyourlap I used guitar samples from Leave It Open, so yes, it's all from the same source. What I did was separate the different vocal and instrumental parts and then recombine them. I was looking for something a bit mysterious and intriguing for the intro. These guitar chords seemed to do the trick, with some added effects like reverb and echo, plus some of the reversed backing vocals. My creative process is quite intuitive, with a lot of hit and miss. I just try things out and keep what I think works best. Thanks again for your comments and interest! - Jay

@@seventyfive4169 that’s very true interesting because I’m not very familiar with music production and Kate’s music has so many layers that I still find new things decades after the songs were published. I didn’t know that Leave it Open had such guitar sounds and I was immediately intrigued by the intro and the use of vocals. Your extended versions really requir a good ear and a good analysis of the songs’ production. I guess you must face the same challlenges as producers regarding the choices of sounds and all the possibilities that are available. I particularly love your work on songs that Kate produced herself (from The Dreaming): there are so many things to play with. I’m really looking forward to Under Ice, Waking the Witch and Watching You Without Me. Thanks again for your work, it’s amazing 🤩
