It was refreshing to see an interview where KB is treated respectfully, not patronised or objectified. So many treat her as an oddity or a temptress and that saddens me. @tricksyfroggy5 жыл бұрын
@@624radicalham yes, absolutely... i mean, i shouldnt have to explain why saying that kind of thing to a stranger on the street is frowned upon as "catcalling". sure its nice, but its definitely unwelcoming for people to be so concerned with an artists appearance over their art
@624radicalham5 жыл бұрын
@@tricksyfroggy Catcalling is horrible and disrespectful. And no. Comment sections on social media don't compare to live catcalling. Commenting on a person's appearance is human nature. Russell Crowe was just on a talk show. All of the comments are about how fat he is. Is it right? Not really. But he IS fat. Too fat for his own good. So it can be said. This is human nature and it's not going to change no matter how many social justice warriors want it to. Just like violence. It's ingrained in human beings. It always was and always will be. What can be done is teaching new behavior so 'catcalling' and school shootings are not done. But saying someone is gorgeous and hot, and beautiful and has big or small breasts, or tall legs, or hair or no hair, lost too much weight, gained too much weight ... that's not going to happen. Kate Bush was an artist, is an artist, and a great one. The 70's were full of demeaning women in interviews. Not done anymore in interviews. But saying she's gorgeous and has nice whatever is NOT objectifying a woman .. are a man for that matter. The real problem is over sensitivity and getting offended over everything. Which you haven't done. But too many people do, and it starts with this silliness of saying that complementary commenting on a person's appearance is patronizing and objectifying.

She was/is supremely talented as a singer/songwriter, musician, dancer and entertainer. Her lyrics were often psychologically insightful and infused with a semantic magic that seduced your senses into submission before you'd even realised you were under attack. She was also, without any doubt, astonishingly beautiful. I don't really see any point in denying that fact in the name of equality.

There isn't enough superlative words to do this amazing talent justice. Writing very thought provoking lyrics at 13, a very gifted family with a very theatrical and artsy daughter who did it her way, and boy did she make an impact. What a brilliant interview - I had these questions in mind. It must have been fated she saw the last 5 minutes of the Wuthering Heights TV show.

She’s so totally relaxed, that was a joy. I’ve never seen anyone but morons interview Kate , we are so lucky to have a lady that just wants to make music.

SO selfless. I agree with what she says about drawing ideas from other people. They truly are the best source for creative stimulation.
