It was refreshing to see an interview where KB is treated respectfully, not patronised or objectified. So many treat her as an oddity or a temptress and that saddens me. This man treated her like the gifted musician that she is. It was very nice to watch and was one of the only interviews I've seen where she looked truly comfortable. Thanks to whoever uploaded it.

@@624radicalham yes, absolutely... i mean, i shouldnt have to explain why saying that kind of thing to a stranger on the street is frowned upon as "catcalling". sure its nice, but its definitely unwelcoming for people to be so concerned with an artists appearance over their art
@624radicalham
@624radicalham 4 жыл бұрын
@@tricksyfroggy6117 Catcalling is horrible and disrespectful. And no. Comment sections on social media don't compare to live catcalling. Commenting on a person's appearance is human nature. Russell Crowe was just on a talk show. All of the comments are about how fat he is. Is it right? Not really. But he IS fat. Too fat for his own good. So it can be said. This is human nature and it's not going to change no matter how many social justice warriors want it to. Just like violence. It's ingrained in human beings. It always was and always will be. What can be done is teaching new behavior so 'catcalling' and school shootings are not done. But saying someone is gorgeous and hot, and beautiful and has big or small breasts, or tall legs, or hair or no hair, lost too much weight, gained too much weight ... that's not going to happen. Kate Bush was an artist, is an artist, and a great one. The 70's were full of demeaning women in interviews. Not done anymore in interviews. But saying she's gorgeous and has nice whatever is NOT objectifying a woman .. are a man for that matter. The real problem is over sensitivity and getting offended over everything. Which you haven't done. But too many people do, and it starts with this silliness of saying that complementary commenting on a person's appearance is patronizing and objectifying.

She was/is supremely talented as a singer/songwriter, musician, dancer and entertainer. Her lyrics were often psychologically insightful and infused with a semantic magic that seduced your senses into submission before you'd even realised you were under attack. She was also, without any doubt, astonishingly beautiful. I don't really see any point in denying that fact in the name of equality.

I was born in 2000, but yes, I see interviews from before the 90's and perhaps because the world wasn't as fast as it is now because of social media, people would take the time and really pay attention. Now there is a lot of content, a lot of information, a lot of excessive art being viewed and there is no room for introspection with pauses! I listen to the interviews from before, without background music, without needing to switch to the next thing right away, and I feel calm.

Incredibly unique talent and beauty. So young here. Shy, velvety and sweet yet with a grounded confidence, focus and intelligence, underneath. She believed in herself as an artist and you need that to survive the music business.

KB is my absolute number 1. Was lucky enough to grow up listening to her. What an artist. Because of her I can now appreciate people like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Loreena McKennitt and so many others....and more recently a true true new legend called Aurora. Thanks Kate! :-)

Been looking at several of Kate's interviews the last few weeks. This one stands out as the best for one detail that should matter to her and anyone who appreciates her music - care of her voice. The interviewer asked about her vocal cords and how she's taking care not to hurt them around 1:10. Kate mentions her vocal coach who keeps an eye on her voice. This is the only mention anywhere that one more person has her back. I really appreciate this. Interviewer kept details to the things that matter the most - kudoes to him.
