My 8 year old niece searched for Kate Bush on youtube, because I've showed her a lot of videos and she's in love with her dancing and songs. Then apparently she found this one all by herself and said to me "I saw the Kate Bush video with the sad snowman, he was melting and Kate was sad because they loved each other".. then yesterday on christmas eve, while having our christmas dinner. She found the 50 Words For Snow album in my room and wanted to play it during dinnertime. I'm a proud uncle!! =)

@@nellies I love your comment. I found out about Kate Bush during the first wave lock-down, just randomly. Wuthering Heights popped up on my recommended videos and I clicked it, and holy shit, I was blown away. WoW was the next recommended video after Wuthering Heights and I became an instant fan. The Man with the Child in his Eyes sealed it for me... I've dug so deep in her catalogue now that I've got at least 50 songs I go to every day, and they keep piling up! Greatest artist I've ever heard in my short 45 years alive. Also strange I had never heard of her before, just no memory of her being popular growing up in Canada. Though I've always liked Black Metal and Death Metal she's next level.

My partner made the mini Kate-like puppet for this. He was brought in at the very last moment to support the very young, fresh out of college Tommy Thompson who was the lead animator and maker of the other puppet/props. When Tommy was asked to come to England from his home in the USA to work on this animation, he didn't even own a passport and hadn't heard of Kate (at least that's what I remember). The puppets were made in an incredibly short time and I remember it vividly because my beloved pet cat died the day my partner got the call to come help out. I'd had that cat for 19 years and we all adored him, so my partner said he would turn the job down so we could have time to grieve, as he knew the deadline involved would mean working through the nights to get it done and he wouldn't be there for me. But I said, 'Are you crazy?! You can't turn down Kate Bush!' (I'd loved her since I was 5 and her 'Never Forever' album was the first album I ever bought and I love it/her to this day). So we stashed our poor kitty in the deep freeze and got on with the job (I got to help a little with the sculpture...mainly because my partner was kind enough to let me be involved in something that meant so much), and he worked day and night so hard to get it done and help Tommy with what he needed to do. We cried and hugged in our coffee breaks. He met Kate several times (sadly, I didn't, but she was kind enough to send me a signed poster and cd), and she even sang him happy birthday and gave him a cup cake as he had to work on his birthday (obviously). Said she was lovely to work with. Tommy was also a real sweetie, and I don't think, at that young age, he had any idea of the enormity of the opportunity he'd been given (am sure he does now). But he sure worked incredibly hard to get it done on time and it must have been quite scary leaving his home for the first time to travel to the other side of the world to work under pressure for a big star, not knowing anyone here. Lovely to see how much his work (along with Kate's, of course) touched so many hearts. We took him home for a day when the chaos was over, gave him a hearty English dinner and took him to a little Christmas Fair in the neighbouring village so he got a little taste of more relaxed rural England before flying home. When it was all done, we had the best kitty funeral ever for our beloved pet. ...and then we disinfected the freezer.

What a great story. How did Kate find out about the work of Tommy? By the way I am very sad about your cat. I have two cats of my own that I adopted last October, they weren't getting adopted because of FIV, so I thought they need a home and they are wonderful just pure joy. Thank you for sharing the background about the video, I live in upstate NY and have been a huge fan of Kate's since I first heard her in 1985. She has changed my life, and tonight is the induction ceremony for the Rock Hall of Fame in NYC, and as you may be aware this set will now be at the Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland in Ohio. Joe

@@bunjijumper5345 I'm not actually sure how she found Tommy. I think her producer might have been scouting colleges and universities for young animators - raw, fresh talent with a particular style. But I'm really not sure. So lovely about you adopting the cats with FIV. All animals deserve loving, safe homes. Am actually working on a project for upstate NY at the moment. Nothing to do with Kate though. It is amazing how many people she touches with her work though. So great she's had a resurgence of popularity/new interest in her from younger people through the song being used in Stranger Things.

Funny how no woman in my life ever got close to the singer of "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" when I went through puberty. She set a standard that was impossible to meet in reality. I think she had a devastating effect in this regard on a whole generation of young men who then had to put up with an avalanche of brainless sluts.

@@Aerialgrrl What's the body of today's aging Kate Bush have to do with her impact and that of her genius in the 1970s ? I am afraid the stupidity of your comment is a case in point ☺ Would you want to spend time with a person that thinks and acts like you do ? Kate saved me from throwing my life away for the sake of idiotic and immoral bitches. Whatever that has to do with sexism is probably a secret of the population with IQ < 90 .

@@TheSoteriologist You can express your love for Kate Bush without indulging in some stone age misogyny. It's entirely possible and it's much better for your karma. Be very careful what ugliness you perpetuate. You may well be influencing some incipient woman-hater just waiting for a validating signal to punish a female he has decided is _immoral._ A troubling trend: Coronovirus means that more women are currently being killed via domestic violence. How many are being punished for being _sluts?_ You can bet that will be the last word some women hear before they're violently dispatched from this world. That don't sit well with me. How many men will be killed by women for being sluts - sorry - _ladies' men_ ? Answers on a postcard. You got hurt in love. Perhaps more than once. So do many women. Perhaps more than once. Don't let your experiences lead you down that bitter road.
@TheSoteriologist4 жыл бұрын
@@reesemorgan2259 There is no misogyny in here for anyone with some brains left. The state of affairs is obvious for anyone to see, and why would mentioning a sickenss imply hatred for the sick ? Of course, the simps who later "married" used up, unintelligent and obnoxious sluts and want to maintain the fantasy that she is "your" wife are not interested in seeing the obvious and therefore think that maybe attacking the messenger helps. This is no way is suitable for encouraging violent simps of the other kind that _you_ mention. Indeed, if one had any brains, my comments would engender humor and make those other simps see that the women no longer hold the sexual value that would be _"worth the trouble"_ from the point of view of some stone age primitivity and violence you falsely think my speech encourages. And do not make any metaphysical assumptions about the way the cosmos works, especially if you obviously do not understand those metaphysics. As regads the domestic violence: if I remember right 70% or more of it is sstatistically initiated by the women that stupid simps want to defend. In their abject degeneracy they are usually surprised by the fact that violence results in injury.
