As a teenager, I was so excited to buy the 45 Tours when it came out... sung in French ! So moved and proud that she is making this gesture... FRANCE LOVES YOU KATE BUSH. Today I am 56 years old and I have not forgotten you! Big Hugs from PARIS.

@FinalWish7 I remember the song when it was released in France and although it achieved a modest success, I heard it quite often. I was very young then and what I loved about the track is that I wasn't sure what she was saying and that most of the sentences could have two or three meanings depending on what I understood: "if the great eyes of my God were not keeping me, I would steal you away" became "if the great eyes of great Gods were not watching me, I would talk to you".

That's an odd one, stylistically speaking. It's was recorded around the time of much of The Dreaming, but it sounds more like it would fit better on Hounds of Love, and with all that the arrangement is like something from her first 3 albums.

Yes, that's Del Palmer on bass. Oddly, the copy of the single that I have has "Dreamtime," a variation of "The Dreaming" as a B-side. It is the other way round. This was the B-side and Un baiser d'enfant was the A-side. It was the B-side of "there Goes a Tenner" and "Suspended in Gaffa" depending on locations.

Oh lord .... she has the capability to be sensual, without crudity. I wish, I wish, that some of our current crop of popular artists could understand that. Miley Cyrus? Need I say more ?
@Kelly14UK10 жыл бұрын
Hell I was ten in '78 and thought she was a weird witch in the vid for Wuthering. I think this girl is a friggin genius who taught us all what real music is all about. Sadly that has all died now, swamped in commercialised, digitalised bull. Kate sung from the hi and lo of her heart. In Search of Peter Pan : )
@voight-kampfftester921810 жыл бұрын
While you are certainly right, the producers and record companies behind performers such as Miley Cyrus know that this current generation doesn't/can't/won't think for themselves so something sensual flies completely over their heads. Something subtle won't work on their minds. It must be in their face and spelled out in large letters for them to understand. They all grew up on videogames so they have very short attenion spans too. The lowest common denominator rules and teens are the ones buying the most merchandise so this is a target group they have to spoonfeed as much as they can for as long as they can for the best profit. Let's be perfectly honest here: there were some artists even during Kate Bush's early years who made their names from an overly sexual (read vulgar) image and that made them go far. No need to mention names.
@Kelly14UK10 жыл бұрын
Voight-Kampff Tester I don't really know what artists you mean, maybe Donna Summer? At least they all did REAL SONGS though... In the gym , this morning, in the background- white noise, chart " music", tuneless, dance oriented supermarket dirge,autotuned females always hitting the same repetitive high note, and that stupid playground chant : " oh oh oh oh " or lame weak " rap". So bad it made me angry. The lowest common denominator has taken over tv, media culture, music. Real emotion embarrasses these robots.
@riccardobruero10 жыл бұрын
Voight-Kampff Tester As you already mentioned Kate's early performing years, I think back then the producers and record companies and the then young generation weren't that much different from now. Kate's innate talents had always went over many people's heads. My brother was a D.J. back then and he just hated her.
