This beautiful song is one of Kate Bush's earliest compositions and was written way before it featured on her first album The Kick Inside.
When asked what the song was about Kate said "I wrote The Saxophone Song because, for me, the saxophone is a truly amazing instrument. Its sound is very exciting - rich and mellow. It sounds like a female. I think of a beautiful sax like a human being, a sensuous shining man being taken over by the instrument. The perfect setting was this smokey bar in Berlin with nobody listening except me in a corner, the streams of light flashing off it to me."
