My little sister brought this song to my attention. It's funny, because when I was little my parents forgot to pack up the Halloween decorations and I got my hands on the plastic skeleton that was the same height as me. I would bring him everywhere I went for a while. I guess you could say he was my friend! I would dress him up too. I don't know what my parents ever did with my skeleton friend. That's why I like skeletons, because I think they're adorable! This song really brings back memories. So nostalgic!~

I actually believe I might have read somewhere that this was about a skeleton costume that her mom made her and sh just kept it because she liked it so much. But when she got older it was pretty awkward having to explain why there is a skeleton in her house, and sometimes she just wanted to get rid of it, but she couldn't because it was her friend

I think that her "skeleton" is really just a reference to her inner self, her truest self - the part of her that bears emotions and characteristics that make her innately strange. She would rather keep that hidden from others (or sometimes even "smash" out altogether). But she realizes that despite the difficulty of being a highly unique and sensitive adult, she could never give up what makes her so different because it's so central to her being (which is why "skeleton" is such a great metaphor here). I used to like this song thinking about the 'skeleton' being more of having issues with a part of yourself, but now I relate to it as a manifestation of my ED. My manifestation of my ed is through a character named Eddie, who constantly tells me how bad food is and that every little thing I eat is gonna make me fat :'). I can't take my body issues or Eddie anywhere with me without feeling like other people will see it. And sometimes at night, I think about recovering or, 'smashing him with a hammer', so to speak. But. I can't. He's the only thing I can count on when everybody else leaves/gets fed up with me. So yeah, I feel like your interpretation of the song is dead-on.

I love this song because it can be interpreted a number of different ways The Skeleton is her, and she's trying to repress it deep inside herself, even to the point of trying to get rid of it completely The Skeleton is an imaginary friend, her only friend by the looks of it, and others make fun of her for having it, and the older she gets the weirder having one becomes and she has to explain herself and considers just stop having an imaginary friend The Skeleton is a real friend, one who supported her through rough times but is weird or 'wrong' and others judge her for hanging out with them, leading her to consider cutting them out of her life

This song kinda represents how I feel about a certain person. When her and I were small, everything was fine, until she changed a whole lot, and that change has hurt me so much, because the things she's decided to say have been extremely offensive to me. She rants about the LGBTQA+ community although she knows I'm part of it, she always plays the victim when she hurts someone and makes the hurt one feel worse, she says such hurtful things. She even made a rant about me and made it public. She even mentioned my real name, and she knew I would see it. I so badly want to distance myself from her, but I'm scared she might act on the cries of suicide she makes all the time.
