This, this was EXACTLY my experience the night of my husband's deathbed vigil. That night is sacred in my memory. Thank you, Kate. I am so grateful.

My God, you are gifted. I heard this song this morning on my Kate Rusby Pandora radio station and stopped, mid-run, to buy the entire album and listened to this song continuously for the next three miles of running. It reminds me of being alone with my dad, in a darkened hospital room, as he died. The line "We both know you did your best" folded me in half the second time I heard it. This is such an exquisite love song. Thank you. Your music is such a gift, Kate. Thank you. I bought the entire album just based on this song. Bless you and come visit the USA, please.

Dear Kate, thank you for this wonderful song. Normally I don´t comment anything here but this time I need to tell you from the bottom of my heart how wonderful this song is. After my Mom passed away at the end of August this year I re-discovered this song and it felt exactly like on the day losing her. The last words I said to her were „I´ll be coming back tomorrow“. Tomorrow never came and I wished for having stayed with her all the night until she was gone. Kate, with this song you gave me the night with my Mom we didn´t had. Thank you so much for it.

seriously, someone gave it a thumbs down. Kate's voice is angelic. I especially love the songs that have a feeling like this - melancholic and romantic with a contemporary-ish sound.

Some years gone by my best friend introduced me to the music of Kate Rusby. It was love at first `sight` for me. The gentle melancholy, the very English tone of all those stories. My god....that voice. The vulnerability... My dear friend has gone now....on his next journey. The last concert we went to together was to see Kate at Colston Hall in Bristol. Kate`s beautiful songs now evoke fond memories of my friend. I am indebted to him for introducing me to this English treasure...

this breaks my heart that you lost your friend but this song moves me more than any other I have ever heard and I am so glad you and your friend got to experience this together x

I first heard Kate's beautiful voice by happenstance when I went to Ireland many years ago. The music store was playing one of her earlier albums and as I was shopping for other cds, her elegant voice was subliminally calming my nerves and I asked the store attendant who was being played (and of course purchased it too.) I am SO thankful for fate that sent me there during that serendipitous moment and have been a loyal follower of hers for over a decade now. Kate, your artistry is therapeutic to so many around the world.

Kate is simply amazing. This song inspired me to write my memoir of thirty two years in the Police. It wasn't long till morning after all.

My funny friend Poppy died a week ago tomorrow........theres no good time or age to get a brain tumour but she was way too young, fun, and a talented doodle drawer & illustrator. This song is lovely and calming, thanks Kate. Poppy & &I met through Shine Cancer Support, a great charity supporting young adults with any cancer diagnosis in the UK.

I Absolutely love this song the tenor Guitar played fantastically by Damien. I played this over and over again while I was looking after my old friend Archie(My Dog) who was my closest companion for many years until he lost his battle with cancer on 27th August. The lyrics just fitted perfectly. Thanks Kate and Damien you go from strength to strength. Awesome song.phil

My quarantine routine has become a wonderful exercise of coffee, relaxation and Kate Rusby. After my morning walk listening to the birds and a quiet city chipper by, I brew a pot and get transported away for 30 mins. I love all the songs Kate has done over the years but have become particularly fond of a few from this album. This song (Until Morning), Don't Go Away (I definitely prefer this version!), The Wanderer and As the Lights Go Out seem to tell an extremely similar bittersweet tale and have become a favorite little playlist of mine when time is short. Good for the soul in trying times, not unlike a strong Yorkshire Tea.

Beautiful lyrics that capture the fear & loneliness, we have all felt in the “small hours” of the night.

I don't think anyone sings their heart vibration like you do magic one. I feel you sooth others by matching their pain with yours and through some beautiful angel alchemy help it ease in the song. So grateful every time I see you sing you make me feel all the feelings. You are so deep. ✨✨✨

Kate Rusby, you are by far my favorite musician. The heart, the sorrow, the joy, and the beauty that soaks through your music is amazing. Thank you for your beautiful art. I feel held in the arms of those who've come before.

Kate has an unequalled talent for seeing a moment of tragedy and being inspired to write a song that conveys the deep humanity in such a way as to make it beautiful. Her beguilingly simple and somehow authentic voice set the whole thing up to be the barely known masterpiece that it is. I feel privileged to be among the all too few who have had the good fortune to be exposed to her artistry.

I was sat on the floor of my bathroom late one night really really struggling with HG sickness during pregnancy and dreading trying to go to bed as bedtime had become such an uncomfortable ordeal, and this song came on. The lyrics of that first verse, weary head, ooooft. Made me feel so much less alone, 'ah someone else knows what this feels like'. The magic of such beautiful song-writing. Lots of love to all those for whom this song has lifted them through tough times xxxx

[Verse 1] In the deepest, darkest hour Where the strongest all will cower And it feels like it's so long 'til mornin' I know your weary head needs rest And we both know you've done your best So I'll hold your hand until the day comes dawnin' [Verse 2] I know the world's been cruel of late And your head can't bear the weight And it feels like it's so long 'til mornin' But together we are bound So I will keep you safe and sound And I'll hold your hand until the day comes dawnin' [Chorus] Don't worry, let the night go driftin' by And tomorrow you can fly [Verse 3] In the dark night you are lost Counting stars to count the cost And it feels like it's so long 'til mornin' So I will catch the moon's bright beams To guide you gently to your dreams And I'll hold your hand until the day comes dawnin' [Verse 4] When there's stillness all around And your heart's a deafening sound And it feels like it's so long 'til mornin' I will stay with you, old friend So you can heal and you can mend And I'll hold your hand until the day comes dawnin' [Chorus] Don't worry, let the night go driftin' by And tomorrow you will fly [Verse 5] Now it's time to make your peace Into the night your fears release And it feels like it's so long 'til mornin' And we will claim the night for ours And we won't see the dark for stars And I'll hold your hand until the day comes dawnin' [Chorus] Don't worry, let the night go driftin' by And tomorrow you will fly And tomorrow you will fly
