My wife passed away from breast cancer in December, aged 44. I came across this song and it destroys me. It makes me realise how brave and strong she was throughout the pregnancy and birth of our three sons. How amazing and loving she was as a wife and mother. I wish we'd had more time together. I miss her so much. 😔

Hii, I feel sorry for you. I’m sure she’s in a happy place now. When you listen to this song just imagine her being strong and powerful. Because that’s what she was and what she should be remembered as. You should see her life as something amazingly beautiful and so is your life! Enjoy it. I send you all my strength and love!

This song is very personal and precious to me. Back in 1993 after already having 2 miscarriages, my wife all of a sudden was feeling excruciating pain in her stomach. We hurried to the Hospital ER and she was found to be bleeding internally and she was filled with blood. The ultrasound revealed she had an ectopic pregnancy. As she was taken to O.R. for surgery I was sent to the waiting room as they told me she had lost quite a lot of blood and would need at least 2 blood transfusions. I waited and worried as it seemed for hours. I had already loved Kate Bush and this song for years and so it continued to play in my head over and over and over again as I cried and worried for the life of my dear wife. It really got me through a really tough ordeal. Almost 30 years later (and 3 other high risk pregnancies' resulting in C sections), we have 6 wonderful children ( and 2 grand-daughters). This song still means so much to me and makes me cry almost every time I hear it !!!! Women indeed sacrifice so much in order to bring life into this world.

When my son passed away in 2013, I was severely stricken with grief, as a coping mechanism I would play this song over and over as like a dedication to my son, parts of the song reminded me of him, especially when she sing give me that little kiss, give me your hand, reminded me when my son was little and I would pick him up from daycare and his eyes would lite up when he saw me and have this big smile on his face and he would run over to me and give me a little kiss and grab my hand and we would walk back to the car holding hands to go home. Music has a way of tearing at your soul, that’s how you know a song like this is a masterpiece when you can relate on a deeper conscious level. Thank you Kate for leveling me up in so many beautiful ways!!!Blessed Be!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Now, (12-9-21) I'm listening to this while watching my mom sleep in the hospital.. She is losing her battle with cancer & won't last the weekend. This woman's work isn't done. Kate wrote this for a John Hughes film called 'she's having a baby.' It's the genius of Kate Bush that she got commissioned to write a song for the soundtrack of a middle-tier 80s melodrama and thought "I think I'll go and write the single most heartbreaking song of all time."

For years I thought this was Maxwell's song, until I accidentally stumbled onto it this morning. As soon as she started singing, I don't know what came over me. Tears and memories just flowed from me so bad, that cheeks were soaked, and had this big knot in my throat. Listened to it to 2 hours and each time it became stronger than the last. WOMAN IS A TOTAL GENIUS. Even PRINCE listened to her music.

Val O'Brien You may have a music degree but some of your comments are just plain high school for instance, you say bush created a persona for herself like that's. a bad thing, when that is exactly what all of the great singers have done. it's called"performance", you know? You say her voice is childlike like that's necessarily a bad. thing, and even though no child has ever sounded like her. you may have some genuine reasons to dislike her , but those are not legitimate reasons. as far as her personality, and musical knowledge, that's so far beyond music criticism, that's it's no wonder people took you for King Troll now, try again

When I was 16 she released Wuthering Heights & I adored her & listened to the album obsessively. She inspired me in many ways, as did all the bullies who sang Wow Wow Wow at me in the school corridors…we wear school uniform in Britain, I just ‘unfortunately’ look like her & come from the same home town so we sound alike. I chose to embrace it! She wasn’t a 1 hit strange wonder. Looking alike stopped being an insult when I was in my 20’s & it was cool to like her! People are strange…not me!

Lyrics: Pray God you can cope I stand outside this woman's work This woman's world Ooh, it's hard on the man Now his part is over Now starts the craft of the father I know you've got a little life in you yet I know you've got a lot of strength left I know you've got a little life in you yet I know you've got a lot of strength left I should be crying, but I just can't let it show I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking Of all the things I should've said That I never said All the things we should've done Though we never did All the things I should've given But I didn't Oh, darling, make it go Make it go away Give me these moments back Give them back to me Give me that little kiss Give me your hand I should be crying, but I just can't let it show I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking Of all the things we should've said That we never said All the things we should've done Though we never did All the things that you needed from me All the things that you wanted for me All the things that I should've given But I didn't Oh, darling, make it go away Just make it go away now You're welcome

Just watched it twice...wasn't gonna watch it cause I had my fill of Tom Hanks, lol. It's not like he needs another Oscar but the movie does. It was a great movie and Oscar worthy considering what and who they give Oscars to and for...a real story line that is serious, true to life, funny at times, tinged with melancholia and some sadness, but overall it's just a nice movie, and a movie of complicated relationships of who & how we effect one another. It's the best movie I've seen in awhile. At first I thought is was Tori Amos singing & then Wuthering Heights came to mind, and I knew it was none other than Kate Bush; her haunting voice added to the melancholy & sadness of the scene.

Of all of Kate's songs this hits closest to home. I've sat in the waiting room waiting to hear about my wife. I've also sat besides her during chemo treatments not knowing how things would turn out. I'm so happy for you mate. There is nothing more precious than the love you have for your partner. I know you will, but keep telling her how much you love her and how precious she is to you. I'm 66 and I do that more than once everyday with my wife. She helped me get through some trying times in my past, especially when I had a heart attack 6 years ago. She's the love of my life and I cherish every minute of the day, knowing that she's right there beside me even when she's not actually there. This year will be our 37th wedding anniversary and our 40th year together and I'm so happy I met her as I'm sure you feel the same about your wife. I wish you and her all the best for the rest of your lives.

I understand my mum was my life and I loved her so much, she died when I was sixteen sometimes I would allow myself to put aside the need to be okay and just let go of all the sadness it hurt so much and to allow yourself to feel that is a brave thing, to let the sadness wash over you like a rough wave ready to crush you down to sand, to physically feel the strength leave your body and be replaced with a feeling of lost hopelessness it's a kind of healing pain that I thank you for reminding me of because I never want to forget how that felt just as much as I don't want to forget the moments when my mum was alive. I remember arriving there and seeing all the parents trying to find their kids. There was a tree where they put all of the names of the kids they were trying to locate. I remember a father holding a piece of paper with his child’s name. José Eduardo Huerta... Later that night they published a list of names of some of the kids that died in there and that name was in there... For some reason I remember this song playing in my head... @Nanda Valim. You are an amazing person for going and helping out the way you did. I can't imagine how that father felt at that moment when he saw his sons name there. It brings tears to my eyes even now thinking about that horrible tragedy.

#KateBush, thank you for this song. It reminds me of what I was going through during a high risk pregnancy in April of 1992. when I was having critical conditions during my pregnancy. My pregnancy was considered high risk . Plus they told me that my baby or me could die. I could die that's when I realized that me and his father at the time we're going through it. I played this song for him to let him know that we can make it through this and that our baby was going to be okay and that I was going to be ok . His father😢 felt sad because he wished he could do more to help me but at the end of the day it was up to my prayers to God and that he would bring us through and he did our son is 32 now and is a registered nurse and even though his dad and I didn't work out We became , a blended family and we're so proud of him. Thank you for this song because it encouraged us to keep the fight😊❤

The thing about Kate is that she brings her rhythm of original creations of music and words to an eternal soul level. Others recreate absolutely beautifully, but they can't raise the hairs on your body like like Kate's voice does. ❤

This video is an absolute masterpiece in its own right. Directed by Kate Bush herself, I think we really need to give huge credit and respect to actor Tim McInnerny. Best known for his comic roles such as Lord Percy and Captain Darling in Blackadder, here McInnerny shows greater depth, emotional intensity and heartbreak in three and a half minutes than some actors do in their entire career. Hugely underrated actor!

I´m 59 years and i've known Kate Bush and her extraordinary voice since I was young. But I didn't know this song. Yesterday I watched "A Man Called Otto!" on Netflix. with one of the greatest actors, Tom Hanks. Then suddenly I heard this voice, this song. Unmistakably, Kate Bush! I sat on the couch, watched the movie, listened to the music and cried. I celebrate that Kate is finding success with her songs after so many years.

Hey, being of a similar age to you catch the original in 'She's Having a Baby' . There are so few songs that deal with the true experience of fatherhood, the weird dilemma that your love for another has both created something of joy to you both but also has put them in possible danger. For all the Home Alones and Uncle Bucks, it is this much overlooked film that is John Hughes' most honest legacy.
