I got another tip. If you're running late for a boot fair, don't be put off and change your mind about going. Still have a look around. Things will be cheaper as it's later in the day and you'd be surprised at what people leave behind if they leave early. I got books, plates, a kettle, a stripey multicoloured heart tin (which was a toiletries gift set with everything still inside unused) and the best thing I found was a black edition Wii console, (no cable or power supply) but it worked a treat.

Your my genius Kate. I remember going to jumble sales when I was a child I picked up these tricks and tips also but you gave me a few new ones haha but I think it's very important not to get giddy stay calm because also you will bring home things you don't like.treat the sellers with a smile engage as they are also trying to make a few bob so meeting in the middle suits seller and buyer I would love to see jumble sales come back in my town it would raise money and help others hugs mags in Ireland your so bright I just love it..xxx hugs across the water

Me too I can never find one in Devon, all the charity shops are really expensive round my way too, Kates always getting good stuff for a £1, maybe it's a Norfolk thing. 😃

Thanks for sharing theses tips, sometimes it is down to fate. Some good points to go early for bargains, but also towards the end of the car boot some sellers just want to get rid of the stuff. xxx

Great tips , I have found as a car boot seller and buyer that politeness is the no 1 top tip, I hope you have left lots of treasure for us, I'm coming to Norfolk in 2 weeks for a holiday and I'm going to try your car boots out, see how they differ from ours 😊

Great advice Kate- I go to car boots a lot and the tips are all things I do but hadn't thought about the 'calling things little' that is a great idea. My husband cannot haggle he just hates it so I have to do that for him! He says he just feels so rude but I say what the heck!

Love watching your hauls, they always make me want to go to a car boot sale or pop into Poundland. We did a car boot ourselves last Sunday rid of some stuff it’s so true what you said about being polite, I was happy to drop prices for the friendly buyers but not the rude ones. Manners cost nothing 😂 x

Great tips Kate, as a seller I always think friendliness goes a long way and I let buyers have a good deal but rude people I always stick at the price. I love buying too though, don’t be afraid to ask if you see something amazing as it might not be out of your price range. I let a lovely Laura Ashley mirror get away as was worried it would be too expensive - turned out to be a complete bargain and to this day I kick myself about it! 😢 Anyway another good tip would be don’t wear a shorter dress or skirt as it stops you going to rummage in the boxes on the floor in case you accidentally flash everyone 🤭 Sorry for the long comment everyone! 😘😘😘

Kate McCabe definitely not! 👗😳 £30 but it retails at £230 normally! And it was the one time I actually took lots of ‘danger money’ to a carboot 😫 xx

Hello hun loved watching your tips on a carboot sale I'll make sure I'll give them a try...... On Sunday I was walking around Blyth carboot and saw 6 little glasses brought them and when I got home I realised they was 6 original baby sham glasses all 6 for £1.50 they are not very difficult to get hold of especially a set of six. Tfs your top tips. I agree that smiling can work. I find it disarms people. Also being polite. I know someone who decided to de-clutter their lovely crime and mystery thrillers in a car boot sale. A very rude man tried to buy them for a silly price and because of his manner they declined to barter. He hung around watching them until the end. They decided that they didn't want to carry them back home so popped them in a skip. As they drove off they watched him climb into the skip to get all the books. They left chuckling because, guessing what he would do, they had removed the last few pages from every book!! Mind your manners people lol xx
