Her dad sounds like an old school Cork conservative. Sounds like it was an awful marriage. Very brave of Katherine to bring up that part about her mother and not inviting her dad to the Christening. Older corkonians are knows to quite religious and conservative. And maybe he didn't really enjoy Canada. Maeve Ann Higgins a Cork comedienne found it very difficult in new york at first. But she stuck at it at and she Is now a very successful writer in the US

Interesting chat. Loved the behind the scenes view of how a comedian preps for a show - wish there was more of this. There were multiple examples Katherine cited about sexism in the workplace and the overwhelm felt by a mom of toddlers with their spouse off to golf, which I wish had been explored further. Different people have different relationships with their parents / relatives. To question their choices without having been in their shoes, seems pretty judgmental. Though Rob handled the conversation beautifully, I wish that tangent about the christening hadn't been pursued.
@LJohnston3 ай бұрын
I felt exactly the same. Wish it had been more about her career and achievements and less on her mum and the family faux pas. The situation with the husband's golf made me wince a bit. I wondered how fine she really was about it. She clearly works extremely hard.

Very good interview as always :) I like Katherine, but I really am scared for her. I saw their home interview too. - Incredibly unfair child rearing, he golfs for a substantial number of hours while Katherine is sleep deprived. At the very very least he's doing his children a disservice. - Katherine is somehow convinced that a relationship need not be fair? What kind of justification for lack of self-esteem is that? - Maybe nothing, but the implication within "I don't have 18 holes" is weirdly simultaneously sexual and devaluing. Your value is not defined by your sexual being. Could be just an awkward joke. - Her sister hired a PI that the man seemed so dodgy. Red flags to the family all around. - They rushed into a marriage, and eloped without telling anyone. Hiding parts of the relationship. - "I have to remind myself I'm blessed to have the children and I wanted to have them on purpose" is some very weird speak that sounds like it comes from the partner justifying how it's all her responsibility. I fully admit I may be wrong. But as someone who was in a long-term (~10 years) abusive relationship, my red-flag meter is off the fucking charts, it isn't worth settling for shitty behaviours. In her position I would leave tomorrow. She seems to be endlessly justifying the awful aspects of her relationship. Katherine - You seem cool and confident in at least some aspects, I guess just make sure you value your time, your life, your body, etc. You have value, and you are not obligated to any person.
