Yeah those fast inserters are just not fast enough, I had to switch to all bulk or stack inserters to get everything unloaded, and even then sometimes if there is any belt slowness they cannot unload. It was the main reason I was running out of seeds. Also had to put most of the spoilage into active providers to make sure they would get out of the box, similarly, on all the requestors, I had to keep Trash Unrequested enabled or it would fill with spoilage from the nutrients. It's always interesting watching your videos as our playstyles have become very different. I setup ships to supply all the planets with basic supplies and rarely made anything locally, except the planet specific buildings. Saves all the fuss of duplicating malls everywhere. By the time I was on Gleba, I had half a dozen automated ships sending things where needed. I cannot imagine having just one ship, yet it's working great here. Ship mass is only determined by the things built on it, platform, assemblers, belts, etc. I don't think there is any change with cargo. Great series, thanks!

52:30 You can get the the fluids to flow through them without pipes, you just need to flip every other one so the pipe connections are in the "opposite place".

Im not really a fan of flipping buildings.

@@KatherineOfSky Ahh ok. Personally I love it since you can make such "better" setups with it. I'm used to it from Captain of Industry.

@@KatherineOfSky Aww but it makes it so nicely compact! Ah well, to each their own, like the landfill. 🦆

Weight has very small impact on ship speed compared to ship width.

Ship width is needed to get sufficient asteroids

KoS, as you're a long time player, is it normal for assembler pasted resource requests in a requester chest to sometimes ask for 1k+ of each material while other recipes are a more reasonable 10to100? I was playing today and as usual i'd shift-rightclick an assembler set to craft something and shift-leftclick to paste it into the requestor chest and i opened the chest and saw it was requesting 1.1k steel 1.1k red circuit etc. then started checking all my assembler-requester combos noticing similar excessive requests, yet few did not. is it a bug? is it normal? Even though i played 500+ hours i never really checked my chests i guess or not closely enough to notice it before.
@DataScienceDIYАй бұрын
The amount requested is based on the recipe and crafting speed.
@KatherineOfSkyАй бұрын
^^ It pastes 30 seconds worth of matierals.

@@KatherineOfSky & @DataScienceDIY Thanks for the answers. I went and tried to see if the values change when with or without speed modules and they did indeed. Wondering if i should make a blueprint with no modules as a mall so some requesters don't hog a metric ton of resources even when finished with their task, resources that could be used elsewhere. Some logibots will have to fly more often when it starts up and the assembler might stall for lack of ongoing resources. maybe there's a magical balance or maybe i shouldn't even bother.

Is moving to gleba worth the trade off of no biolabs in your opinion?
@KatherineOfSkyАй бұрын
No. But you are missing the point. Early science in gleba spoils fast. Biolabs are MUCH science away... so a temporary move to Gleba is definitely recommended.
@bjklossАй бұрын
@KatherineOfSky Ah thanks that makes sense! I've kind of been experiencing this problem myself in my current playthrough trying to rush it to Nauvis and am not getting nearly enough research out of a full 1000 in a rocket.
