She was 39 here. It's difficult to find action films directed by women before the 1990s. It appears there were some female-directed westerns in the early years of cinema. Also some horror films directed by women over the years. Gale Ann Hurd was a prominent producer of action films in the 1980s, also often collaborating with James Cameron, but didn't ever direct.

She directed some action movies in the 80s, including a vampire story. Actually she had directed action movies her whole career.

@@carl_anderson9315 Near Dark is a horror film. She didn't direct an action film until Blue Steel in 1990.

Women shouldn't direct action film. What female directed at western btw? Blue Steel btw, was more of a thriller than actioner.

@@m1lst3r89 Women shouldn't direct action films? Jeez i'm glad you don't have any decision making power in the industry...what an incredibly close minded statement especially on a video about a female director being interviewed about her GREAT action film.

Great interview, but Katherine you mispresented James Bond. Bond was the first to do the no parachute stunt, and they did it for real over at least 88 jumps. Shame that you suggested they didn't. The beginning of Moonraker is the prototype and the coolest version of the stunt. Still, Point Break is, nonetheless, a great, entertaining film.

I guess the interviewer was getting into trouble at the end. She seemed misogynistic for being a woman. Lol.
