Just for info, Please stop calling the temple Monkey temple, it is more than that. The original name is Swayambhunath, which literally translates to "Self-created", which is also one of the oldest temple of Nepal. With a great deal of history and as a important shrine for Buddhist and Hindu followers, I think calling it Monkey Temple loses the religious significance of this place. Seeing a lot of monkeys, some vloggers(before you) decided to name it as Monkey Temple and others followed the trend (even the locals) and slowly the Swayambhunath is losing it significance as a shrine that teaches enlightenment.

Wow! I totally agree and I made that very apparent in my blog the first time I visited it! It’s actually kinda weird how I didn’t do that in the title and description of this one! I guess the first time I was there, I was new to the place and wanted to out significance on the cultural relevance but then after being around Kathmandu for an extended period of time, I got used to people calling it “monkey temple” and fell victim to the mislabeling! Wow. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention! I’m gonna change the title and description right now. Thank you! 💜

There is not any monkey god in temple premise. Rather than monkey temple you can also tell it buddha temple. That doesn't make difference.

I referenced “monkey temple” because the fact remains that many people call it that, the fact remains that many people go there to watch the monkeys, the fact remains that these monkeys are fed there daily by employees of the temple and there’s no denying that monkeys are a predominant factor of the less significant aspects of the temple. I’m sorry if me referring to it as monkey temple but still making sure people know the actual name offends you. I’m not a reporter. Its not your fault i don't mean to say to you, its the fault of nepal government and the local people who didn't say anything about this monkey temple name issue. At first it was never called monkey temple , people outside of kathmandu valley and other nations people name it so after they saw lot of monkeys there. Just because many monkeys are found in that place it should not be said like that. There are many temples in nepal where lot of monkeys are found like in swayambhu but original name should not be misused. Still, No offence with you my friend.
