I would add the 75-150 3.5 E. Got it for $29 on EBay and it's very sharp at all focal lengths and f-stops.

I love my 58mm Voigtlander! Thanks again for the tip. "Best lens ever" despite having to remember to -0.7 exposure every time I change lenses and reset again.

I paid $450 for the Voightlander 58mm used and it took some hunting to get it at that price. I've had it for about a week now and it produces the best images straight out of camera that i've seen, however, I noticed that the lens doesn't have the protruding edges on the focus ring like yours. Does that mean it's an older version?

For a portrait on location (inside) for lighting using a Buff extreme silver PLM if you had a choice of 105 f/2.5, tokina 100 f/2.8, or 135mmf/3.5 which one would you use. Will be B & W. Bokeh not a concern since be using a background. Love all 3. Will be of older guy with a weathered face.

i know man, PINK!!! only real men wear pink....... the lens choice is up in the air, if its closer quarters the 135mm is a bit long unless UR doing head and shoulders

+Theoria Apophasis Will basically head and shoulder shot. Freaking pink. When I got it my wife said" aren't you a little old for Hello Kitty stuff". Love all 3 lense but leaning toward 105 or 135. have to refine my mf technique to get faster. Want to get to super fast with manual focus before I get Voigt. 58. Having a blast with sb28 in auto. flagging and bouncing with it is way cool.

i owned the 35-70 for some time. it was one hell of a lens and it kept me from buying the 24-70 until i got one for a good price. it is not as well corrected as the 24-70, as you can see some artifacts on skin highlights but generally i would consider this to be an awesome lens. the focusing is another story. while it is generally fast enough for work on a D700, it is noisy and the front rotates. the 35 is not as wide as well. if anybody can live with that, it going to be awesome for you. nobody builds lenses like that anymore.

my previous sample was sharper than some 24-70s in the middle. but the 24-70 that i got (glad i waited) just blow my old 35-70 away. not even close.

Just curious....Is there a good super zoom lens out there for full frame camera that you would recommend? ie Tamron 18-270ish??...or just forget it. Going on a trip, trying to limit my load. Thanks!

+Damian Janicki The 32MM Lomo MINITAR-1 Art Lens f2.8 was pretty much made for those types of portraits. If you're not a stickler for sharpness I think that lens will really capture the essence of that particular subject

on the 200 f4 a-s. you can get an 80-200 f4 ai-s for about the same price or less. i did some tests before and the 80-200 f/4 actually looks better in many situation, probably due to the coatings (despite the coatings having damage from fungus that i killed). but for portability the 200f4 is hard to beat when hiking

i dont know about other people's samples but my 200 f4's focusing was not damped enough, even with new grease. so i had to switch to a stiffer silicone type grease for it and now its all good

+Kostas Kefalidis i bought it used last year. That 70-300 f4.5-5.6 Vr G is a great lens, even at 300 mm i get very good results. I did shoot wildlife recently with it and it was fun :-). However i don`t know where you live but on the german Amazon site you get it new for about 533 Euro, on the italian one you get it from about 450 Euro...on the french one is 512...I guess in the shops it is more expensive.

RE: The Nikkor 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 VR...……...what I wish someone had told me or mentioned in any of the KZbin videos I've seen...…………..yeah, it's sharp, HOWEVER, the vignetting is ridiculous at anything wider than f/8. Good lens, IF you don't mind running EVERY single image through LR/PS. If I had it to do again, I'd buy the Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 AF-D and the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF-D Micro.

Been itching to get 58 voit. but decided that will be my present to myself once I master lighting(if that's ever possible) or get freaking awsome at it. BTW been experimenting with SB 28 etc bouncing and flagging in auto mode. Noticed that as you set iso higher on sb28 your minimum apeture goes higher on sb 28. Also if want to change iso on speedlight I need to shut off speedlight and turn back on then change iso.

These 35-70f2.8 are notorious for fogged inner lens where the bonded inner element splits and iq is piss poor also this problem can occur when a lens is moved to a change in temperature .To be honest it,s hard to find one that is free of this now because they are getting on now.
