Irish legend and very under rated. BTW Joe B. loved Gary. Maybe check his live Parisian Walkways and The Messiah Will Come. Gary had health issues (drink) for years and later videos his appearance is bloated but his playing even got better despite his struggle. However he eventually passed away after a drinking binge. He was a hard working musician who never had the financial success of his piers, I think the drinking was a reaction to that. Definitely a pro he always put on a killer show.

Gary was an Irish guitarist with Skid Row and Thin Lizzy. Gary's The Messiah Will Come again live at Montreaux 1990 is possibly the best guitar solo ever. Gary's playing was the first time I heard a guitar singing like a person, a very moving experience. He had a solo career with Paresianne Walkways, Overthe Hills and Far Away and of course still got the Blues and many hits with Thin Lizzy.

Gary Moore was a legend in Europe by the 80's... 'Still got the blues' was his only US hit in 1990 - it was a blessing and a curse, because he was expected to keep playing that blues style on further records... and he was a hard rock artist. Some of his more conventional hit songs included - 'Over the hills and far away' ... 'Out in the fields' ... 'Nuclear attack' ... 'After the war'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥🎸 Born in Northern Ireland, Gary Moore fell into playing guitar after hearing American blues artists like B.B. King... Djnago Reinhardt... Otis Rush... Albert Collins... and eventually, modern 60's guitarists like George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, etc. During the Troubles in Northern Ireland, Gary Moore left and moved to Dublin where he joined the Irish band Skid Row (not the American Skid Row) and became friends w/ bassist Phil Lynott in the late 60's... Phil Lynott (bass & vocals) left to form the legendary band Thin Lizzy, and Gary Moore would help them w/ early live shows in the 70's. Gary Moore formed his solo band in the 70's just as Thin Lizzy were breaking big in Europe, and then America in 1976 w/ their album 'Jailbreak'... Gary Moore recorded 1 Thin Lizzy album ('Black Rose' in 1979) and was filmed live playing w/ Thin Lizzy -"Live at Sydney Harbour '78" (Thin Lizzy had parted ways w/ guitarist Brian Robertson at that point). In 1978, Gary Moore released his first 'proper' solo album 'Back on the streets'... and scored a minor hit 'Parisienne walkways'... which was co-written w/ Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy... He struggled to find success w/ albums like 'Corridors of power' (1982) and 'Dirty fingers' (recorded in 1980, released in 1983)... His commercial success in Europe finally came in 1985 w/ his 5th album 'Run for cover'... which featured the hit 'Empty rooms'... Sadly, Moore was mourning in 1986 after the death of his friend and former bandmate Phil Lynott, who passed away from organ failure after years of drug abuse. Gary Moore's career in Europe continued to blossom in the 80's w/ his albums 'Wild frontier' (1987) and 'After the war' (1989)... and he peaked in 1990 w/ the album 'Still got the blues' (his only US gold album selling a half million copies)... However, the 90's brought his career into decline (along w/ most 70's and 80's rock bands and artists) as subsequent albums failed commercially. Gary Moore persisted and kept recording and touring... he paid tribute to Phil Lynott playing a set of Thin Lizzy songs (released as "Gary Moore & friends: One Night in Dublin" in 2005) and a Jimi Hendrix tribute in 2007 ('Blues for Jimi') ... By 2010, Gary Moore was back on tour and working on a new hard rock album, but he was not in good shape... The legendary guitarist had been abusing alcohol for years and gained weight significantly - he was filmed in 2010 performing in Montreux (released as 'Live in Montreux' in 2011) and he seemed to be struggling to perform onstage. Sadly, he never got to make that record... Gary Moore passed away in early 2011 from heart failure at age 58... His blood alcohol was reportedly at 0.38 in his autopsy.

First saw Gary when he toured as a member of Thin Lizzy in the late 70's but Gary always wanted to be more than just in a rock band no matter how successful they were. He left and persuade his interest in a solo career and Blues Rock. He made some further great records with Phil Lynett and had a great career, a guitar genius . I saw him on several more occassions in concert in various London locations but it was his performance at Hammersmith Odeon ( Apollo) when he was joined on stage by BB King and Albert King that was beyond special. I also saw him on other occassions when he would bring on other guests to share those guitar links with including the great Albert Collins. Gary left us in early 2011 when he suffered a heart attack whilst in Spain and he is so sorely missed as I'm sure the world would otherwise have a whole lot more great Gary Moore solo CDs and LPs to have marvelled and enjoyed RIP Gary Moore Guitar Legend

Gary Moore was a great friend of one of Ireland's greatest songwriters, Phil Lynott. Phil Lynott was the founder, bassist, lead singer of "Thin Lizzy". Thin Lizzy were/are one of the most influential rock band in history.

I was extremely lucky to have seen Gary play more times than I can remember. From his tour with Greg Lake in the early 1980's, all the way through to his latter blues days, and each time he took my breath away. A huge inspiration for me, and thousands upon thousands of guitar players world wide... He is sorely missed by millions. He once said he always preferred someone saying how much they liked a song of his than having a number one single or album. His heart was in his music only. The Messiah Comes Again live in 1990 is nothing short of sheer brilliance. Enjoy ladies.

Gary was one of the greatest guitarist/vocalists ever. What I love in particular is the obvious passion he had for his music. I saw Gary Moore live at the beacon theater in New York in 1992 he did two shows that year one in LA and on r in New York I had first row balcony seats looking straight down on him it was amazing best concert I ever saw

Both times I was allowed to rest my head on my elbows on the stage and just be mesmerised by this guy. No one asked me to move. I’m quarter Irish so know where the talent is from! He is missed. One of a kind so hard working. He didn’t make the $. Satriani or Vai made but I think more Celtic and grounded in his genes. A very talented man and hard working musician, that's Gary Moore. He spent most of his career playing hard rock with various bands. In 1990 he rediscovered the blues and produced this song and a new album. He then focused on the blues for the rest of his career. Got every single Gary Moore album there is....all his hard rock stuff, his earlier bands, Scars, BBM.....every sidestep, all of it!!! Amazing you never heard of him. To me Gary is the embodiment of 3 guitarists in one, all 3 are definitely among people he listened to and were his peers.....Peter Green/Rory Gallagher/Roy Buchanan. I got everything Peter Green too (save for a few Splinter group releases), got everything by Roy Buchanan....now that's a heavily underrated American player!!!! And on my way completing Rory Gallagher's discography. In May I'm seeing Walter Trout in Paradiso Amsterdam again. Definitely in the same category as Gary, amazing player who just lives the music. Gary Moore's The Loner is a song that can be played at my funeral!!!

This track by Gary Moore was released in the late summer of 1989; I remember it because it came out when Montgomery, Alabama had a new rock station (WXFX-FM 95.1 The Fox) that just signed on the air. I was 25 then. This guy was the guitarist for Thin Lizzy, they came out with “Jailbreak”, and “The Boys Are Back In Town”. Gary Moore was an outstanding guitarist. A challenge for you girls. Try the seven-minute song “Shooting Shark” by Blue Oyster Cult (1983, album long version, not the live version). Believe it or not, it’s a love song. Need lyrics to go along, I once dedicated it to the girl I broke off with. 👨🏻‍🦳🇺🇸😁🥁🎸🎵🎹🎶

Gary Moore is probably my most favorite guitar player of all time. Unfortunately, we lost him young. He was 54 or 55 years old. He died in Spain in a hotel. The problem was he liked to drink and it was alcohol poisoning that took his life.

I was lucky enough to be at this concert at The Hammersmith Odeon in London and saw Gary honestly more times over the years than I can remember. Gary could play any style he wanted to from Blues, Rock, Jazz-Fusion and even Neo-classical. There are and were many great guitarists but Gary was just a cut above the rest. He was a huge influence on Joe Bonamassa (my current favourite guitarist). Unfortunately we lost Gary in 2011. You should try The loner live from sweden 87 there he also shows some skills...He is one of the few no matter if he plays fast or slow there is soul in it, you hear alot of schredders but there is no heart behind it.. He also knew how to control the volume all the time so he doesnt blast it.. these 10 sec. Boost he makes is perfect all the way, he was the master in control....
